That is why often through illness, through forced self-restraint, the Lord calls a person to turn for help to His power, to His holy saints. In the midst of the bustle of work and entertainment, we often forget about Almighty God.

The most famous holy doctor, healer and miracle worker is the Great Martyr Panteleimon. Evidence of miraculous healings through prayers to him remained in all ages. The saint helps us in the same way today.

Panteleimon the Healer is prayed for bodily and spiritual recovery, that is, not only for the healing of physical illnesses, but also for driving away depression, despondency, despair, anxiety and other mental illnesses.

Panteleimon the Healer - assistant and doctor of all patients praying to him

From the life (biography) of St. Panteleimon, we know that he lived during the time of the first Christians in the Roman Empire, on the territory of present-day Turkey. He was born with the name Pantoleon in the family of a high-ranking pagan official. The young man's mother was a Christian - she died early, but managed to instill a good beginning in the child.

With the help of his father, the future saint received an excellent education, his talent as a doctor was praised by many: the Roman emperor Maximilian himself invited him to become a court physician. Pantoleon settled at the royal court as a doctor.

One day he met Yermolai, the elder of holy life, and the instructions of this priest reminded Pantoleon of the image of his Christian mother. Pantoleon did not dare to accept Baptism for a long time, perhaps because he knew that Emperor Maximilian was killing Christians for their faith.

However miraculous event decided his fate - and the fate of people of many centuries who received healing through prayers to the young doctor who became a saint. One day Pantoleon was walking down the street and saw a dead child who had died from the bite of an echidna (snake) sitting next to him. His compassion for the baby was so great that he began to pray to the Lord Jesus Christ, asking to resurrect the boy - after all, his medical knowledge was already useless, the child died, and only the power of God could resurrect him. Through the prayer of the future saint, the boy was indeed resurrected! This miracle showed Pantoleon: God is great, and one cannot turn away from Him, especially after such a great mercy.

The young man was baptized with the name of Panteleimon and took a vow of non-possession, becoming a healer free of charge. He healed with prayer, people saw that many diseases go away in a truly miraculous way.

The news of this - perhaps through other doctors who envied the glory of Panteleimon - reached Tsar Maximilian, the persecutor of Christians. Of course, he did not tolerate the open preaching of Christianity at his court, and, despite the talent of the young man, he confronted him with a terrible choice: renounce Christ or die.

Saint Panteleimon was tortured for a long time, only to have him renounce his faith. His torments were so great, terrible and long-lasting that the Church after death - the saint was cut off his head - canonized him as a great martyr. This young man did not want to live as a traitor to God, and went to his death for the sake of Christ. It happened in 305.

But the talent of a doctor remained with the saint even after his death. Miraculously, he began to help immediately after his death the believing people praying to him. He helps everyone even today: the icon of Panteleimon the Healer is easy to find in every church, every icon shop, especially at the hospital. It depicts a handsome young man in red and green clothes with a spoon and a casket in his hands - in such caskets in ancient times, doctors carried medicines that were very valuable.

LIFE

The great martyr and healer Panteleimon was born in the city of Nicomedia into the family of a noble pagan Eustorgius and was named Pantoleon. His mother Evula was a Christian. She wanted to raise her son in the Christian faith, but she died when the future great martyr was still a young boy. His father sent Pantoleon to an elementary pagan school, after graduating from which the young man began to study the art of medicine from the famous doctor Euphrosynus in Nicomedia and became known to Emperor Maximian (284-305), who wanted to see him at his court.

At the same time, the holy martyrs Hermolais, Hermipp and Hermocrates, who survived the burning of 20,000 Christians in the Church of Nicomedia in 303, secretly lived in Nicomedia. Saint Ermolai repeatedly saw Pantoleon walking past their refuge. Once the presbyter called the young man to his dwelling and told him about the Christian faith. After that, Pantoleon visited the Hieromartyr Yermolai daily.

Once a young man saw a dead child on the street, bitten by a viper that was still nearby. Pantoleon began to pray to the Lord Jesus Christ for the resurrection of the dead and the killing of the poisonous reptile. He firmly decided that if his prayer was fulfilled, he would become a follower of Christ and be baptized. The child came to life, and the echidna shattered into pieces in front of Pantoleon.

After this miracle, Pantoleon was baptized by Saint Yermolai with the name Panteleimon (all-merciful). Conversing with Evstorgiy, Saint Panteleimon prepared him for the adoption of Christianity, and when the father saw how his son healed the blind man by invoking the name of Jesus Christ, he believed in Christ and was baptized along with the blind man who had seen his sight.

After the death of his father, Saint Panteleimon dedicated his life to the suffering, the sick, the miserable and the poor. He healed all those who turned to him free of charge, healing them in the name of Jesus Christ. He visited prisoners in dungeons, especially Christians, with whom all prisons were overflowing, and treated them for their wounds. Soon the rumor about the gracious doctor spread throughout the city. Leaving other doctors, the inhabitants began to turn only to St. Panteleimon.

Out of envy, the doctors reported to the emperor that Saint Panteleimon was treating Christian prisoners. Maximian urged the saint to refute the denunciation and offer sacrifice to idols, but Saint Panteleimon confessed himself a Christian and, before the eyes of the emperor, healed the paralytic in the name of Jesus Christ. The embittered Maximian executed the healed man, who glorified Christ, and betrayed Saint Panteleimon to the most cruel torments.

The Lord appeared to the saint and strengthened him before suffering. The Great Martyr Panteleimon was hung on a tree and tore with iron claws, burned with candles, then stretched on a wheel, thrown into boiling tin, plunged into the sea with a stone around his neck. In all the tortures, the great martyr remained unharmed and boldly denounced the emperor.

At the same time, presbyters Ermolai, Hermipp and Hermocrates appeared before the court of the pagans. All three firmly confessed their faith in the Savior and were beheaded.

By order of the emperor, the Great Martyr Panteleimon was thrown to be torn to pieces by wild animals in the circus. But the animals licked his feet and pushed each other away, trying to touch the saint's hand. The spectators rose from their seats and began to shout: “Great is the Christian God!” Enraged, Maximian ordered the soldiers to cut down with swords everyone who glorified the Name of Christ, and to cut off the head of the Great Martyr Panteleimon.

The saint was brought to the place of execution and tied to an olive tree. When the great martyr was praying, one of the soldiers hit him with a sword, but the sword became soft like wax and did not inflict any wound. The saint finished the prayer, and a voice was heard calling the martyr by name and calling to Heavenly Kingdom. Hearing the Voice from Heaven, the soldiers fell on their knees before the holy martyr and asked for forgiveness. The executioners refused to continue the execution, but the great martyr Panteleimon ordered that the emperor's order be carried out, saying that otherwise they would not have a part with him in the future life. The soldiers with tears said goodbye to the saint, kissing him.

When the martyr's head was cut off, milk flowed from the wound. The olive tree, to which the saint was tied, at the moment of his death was covered with fruits. Many present at the execution believed in Christ. The body of the saint, thrown into the fire, remained intact in the fire and was buried by Christians († 305). The servants of the Great Martyr Panteleimon Lavrenty, Vassoy and Provian saw his execution and heard the Voice from Heaven. They wrote a story about the life, sufferings and death of the holy great martyr.

The holy relics of the Great Martyr Panteleimon dispersed in parts throughout Christendom. His honest head is now in the Russian Athos Monastery in the name of the Great Martyr Panteleimon.

The Great Martyr Panteleimon is revered in the Orthodox Church as a formidable saint, the patron saint of warriors. This side of veneration reveals his first name Pantoleon, which means "the lion in everything." The second name given at Baptism - Panteleimon, that is, "all-merciful", is revealed from the veneration of the great martyr as a healer. For all Christians, he is considered the patron saint of doctors. The connection between these two patrons of the saint is clearly visible from the fact that warriors, who receive wounds more often than others, most of all need a healer. That is why Christians, waging spiritual warfare, also resort to this saint with a request to heal the ulcers of the soul.

The name of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon is invoked during the performance of the Mystery of the Unction, the blessing of water, and in prayer for the weak.

Memorial Day of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon in the Russian Monastery on Mount Athos is a temple holiday. The Prefeast begins 8 days before the feast, on which, after Vespers, prayer canons are sung in 8 voices, and there is a special canon for each day. The second day of the holiday is ktitorsky day. On the very day of the feast, after vespers, a panikhida is performed in a cathedral for the deceased builders and benefactors of the monastery, consecrated and kolivo (kutya) is distributed.

Born in the city of Nicomedia in the family of a noble pagan Eustorgius and named Pantoleon.

Conversing with Evstorgiy, Saint Panteleimon prepared him for the adoption of Christianity, and when the father saw how his son healed the blind man by invoking the Name of Jesus Christ, he believed in Christ and was baptized along with the blind man who had regained his sight.

After the death of his father, Saint Panteleimon dedicated his life to the suffering, the sick, the miserable and the poor. He free of charge treated all those who turned to him, healing them in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Maximian urged the saint to refute the denunciation and offer sacrifice to idols, but Saint Panteleimon confessed himself a Christian and, in front of the emperor's eyes, healed the paralytic in the name of Jesus Christ.

All three firmly confessed their faith in the Savior and were beheaded (information about them was placed on July 26).

The saint finished the prayer, and a Voice was heard calling the martyr by name and calling him to the Kingdom of Heaven.

The holy relics of the Great Martyr Panteleimon dispersed in parts throughout the Christian world: his honest head is now in the Russian Athos Monastery in the name of the Great Martyr Panteleimon.

The veneration of the holy martyr in the Russian Orthodox Church has been known since the twelfth century. Prince Izyaslav, in baptism Panteleimon, the son of Saint Mstislav the Great, had the image of the Great Martyr Panteleimon on his helmet. Through the intercession of the saint, he remained alive during the war of 1151. On the day of memory of the Great Martyr Panteleimon, Russian troops won two naval victories over the Swedes (in 1714 at Gangauz, in 1720 at Grengam).

Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon
The Great Martyr Panteleimon is revered in the Orthodox Church as a formidable saint, the patron saint of warriors. This side of veneration reveals his first name Pantoleon, which means "the lion in everything." The second name given at Baptism - Panteleimon, that is, "all-merciful", is revealed from the veneration of the great martyr as a healer. Among Western Christians, he is considered the patron saint of doctors.

Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon
Memorial Day of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon in the Russian Monastery on Mount Athos is a temple holiday. The Prefeast begins 8 days before the feast, on which, after Vespers, prayer canons are sung in 8 voices, and there is a special canon for each day. The second day of the holiday is ktitorsky day. On the very day of the feast, after the vespers of the cathedral, a memorial service is performed for the deceased builders and benefactors of the monastery, consecrated and kolivo (kutiya) is distributed. The refrains on the 9th ode of the canon to the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon according to the handwritten Athos service are published in the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate (1975, No. 3, pp. 45-47).

The Third Prayer of the Right Reverend Jeremiah (the Hermit)

Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon! Pray to God for us and do not allow the illnesses with which we ache in body and soul to remain in us any longer! Heal those ulcers and scabs that have been caused to us by our passions. We hurt with laziness and relaxation - we are healed. We are sick with attraction and addiction to earthly objects - we are healed. We hurt, O Saint Panteleimon! We are sick of forgetfulness: about the work of salvation, about our sins and weaknesses, about our duties - heal us. We are sick with rancor, anger, hatred - heal, about the healer of St. Athos and the world. We hurt with envy, pride, arrogance, exaltation, with all the poverty and lewdness - we are healed. We suffer from many and different fits of carnality: gluttony, intemperance, polygamy, voluptuousness - we are healed. We are sick with drowsiness, verbosity, idle talk, condemnation - heal us, O Saint Panteleimon! Our eyes hurt with sinful views, our ears hurt with hearing empty talk, slander, slander - heal us. Hands ache with a disposition to prayerful uplifting and to giving alms - heal us. Our legs hurt with unwillingness to hastily go to the temple of the Lord and the desire to walk in the streets and visit the houses of the world - we are healed. It hurts, our tongue hurts, our mouths: idle talk, idle talk, slander, turning away from prayers and hymns, or pronouncing them carelessly, absent-mindedly, without attention, without a clue - heal us, O merciful one! We ache from head to toe: our reason hurts with dullness, unreasonableness and madness; the will hurts in us, turning away from holy occupations and striving for deeds harmful and ungodly; the memory hurts in us, forgetting our sins and containing in itself the sins and insults of our neighbors; the imagination hurts in us, not being able and not wanting to vividly present to us our death, the eternal torment of sinners, the blessings of the Kingdom of Heaven, God's wrath, the sufferings of Christ on the Cross, His crucifixion - heal us, O Saint Panteleimon! Everything in us hurts. Our whole soul, with all its powers and abilities, is also weak. Our whole body, with all its members, is also weak. Heal us, O Saint Panteleimon, Healer, unmercenary and loving Healer, servant of the Most Holy Theotokos, and do not leave our penitence in the capital of ailments and in the capital of infirmity: may you be healed by your grace, I will glorify Holy Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and Holy Mother of God who sends you to serve the sick, and I will thank yours, O Saint Panteleimon, the whole-bearing shrine forever. Amen.

Have mercy on me, a sinful slave, hear my groaning and cry, have mercy on the heavenly, supreme Physician of our souls and bodies, Christ our God, may He grant me healing from the disease that oppresses me. Accept the unworthy prayer of the sinner more than all people. Visit me with a blessed visit. Do not disdain my sinful sores, anoint me with the oil of your mercy and heal me: yes, healthy in soul and body, I can spend the rest of my days, by the grace of God, in repentance and pleasing God and I will be able to perceive the good end of my belly. magnificence

We magnify you, passion-bearing holy great martyr and healer Panteleimon, and we honor your honest suffering, even for Christ you suffered.

One of the strongest intercessors of people and a great healer is the Orthodox Great Martyr Panteleimon. He helps with any infirmity, mental and physical ailments. Akathist to Panteleimon the Healer will bring healing in various diseases, help to thoroughly strengthen the spirit and health.

The meaning of the akathist to Panteleimon the Healer

In illnesses and difficulties, with problems and infirmities, people resort to the help of St. Panteleimon. The akathist in his honor is a laudatory chant consisting of kontakia and ikos, with a total of 25 songs. It is especially important to pray and read an akathist when you yourself are sick or your parents, close people and relatives are suffering.

Before the great divine power that Panteleimon is endowed with, any medical laws recede. Sometimes even doctors cannot explain what is happening: patients are miraculously healed in the blink of an eye. Believers pray to the holy healer themselves, sometimes in special situations they turn to priests so that they read an akathist about health in the temple.

The Great Martyr Panteleimon was born in Nicodemia. His father was a pagan and raised his son in the spirit of his faith. The boy was trained in the art of healing. Once the Hieromartyr Yermolai initiated the boy into the Christian faith, and the young man began attending his classes.

The gift of healing suddenly opened up: Panteleimon saw a child who had died from the bite of a viper. He turned to the Lord with a request to revive the boy and destroy the animal. At the same time, he mentally decided that if everything happens as he asks, he will become a follower of Christ and undergo the rite of Baptism. The child was resurrected, and the echidna broke into pieces. After that, Panteleimon became a minister and healed Christians.

The pagan emperor Maximian prepared terrible torments for Panteleimon, but in all the tortures the saint remained invulnerable. When he was thrown to the lions, the animals fawned and licked his feet. When he was ordered to cut off his head, the swords did not obey the executioners. The saint left only at the call of the Voice from Heaven. And from his wound, when his head was cut off, milk flowed under the olive tree. The holy relics did not burn in the fire, they were dismantled by believers and carried around the world.

Panteleimon needs to pray:

  • about the healing of seriously ill patients;
  • to relieve suffering;
  • with emotional experiences and traumas;
  • about the recovery of the soul and body;
  • about the health of babies, youths and maidens, adult believers.

Akathist read about their own recovery, about the healing of mom and dad, the second half and children. It doesn't matter who is sick, the main thing is to ask for salvation and health for dear people.

There are rules on how to behave when reading an akathist:

  1. You should stand in front of the icon of Panteleimon in a church or at home.
  2. Only the weak and seriously ill are allowed to sit.
  3. They light a candle and hold it in their hand - its light allows you to be closer to the holy great martyr and sets you in a prayerful mood.
  4. Before the akathist, they read a prayer to the Savior and the Mother of God.
  5. Words must come from the heart and be filled with sincerity and faith.

If someone gets sick at home, put the icon of a healer near the sick person and read an akathist next to him.

Panteleimon in Orthodox Church considered the patron saint of warriors, a formidable protector and a powerful healer. The saint hears and helps everyone who turns to him. It is important not to harbor sin, but to sincerely ask for forgiveness from God. The power of the akathist will increase several times if you read it for 40 days.

Hearing the Nikomidian people about your great compassion for the suffering and about the gratuitous healing from all diseases, rushing all to you, with faith in the healing grace that exists in you, and accepting the quick healing of all diseases, I glorify God and the greatness of you, your all-merciful healer, calling to you: Rejoice, anointed with the world of grace; Rejoice, consecrated temple of God. Knowing therefore the Life-Giver of all the True God, with firm faith you called out to Him: Alleluia.

Behold the blind light, you touched it with the invocation of the Name of Christ, glorious. With a bright face, presenting yourself to the court of the king, you boldly called out, most blessed, in the hearing of all: my all-healing power and glory, Christ is the True God, Lord of all, resurrect the dead and drive away every ailment. Myrrh poured out on your soul, God-wise healer, from the Comforter of the Spirit; even after death, your honest remains, driving away evil stench with the fragrance of your passions, healing is served to those who cry out by faith to God: Alleluia.

When you see idolatry, the worshipers are relaxed for many years, by your prayer, holy, raised up and walking, many believe in Christ; the priests of demons, consumed by envy, instigating the king to rage. For you, mercilessly for Christ, who was strewed and scorched by the former, we call with tenderness: Rejoice, contemptible earthly pleasures; Rejoice, superior material goods. Rejoice, for you have imputed all the red of this world to nothing; Rejoice, for thou hast shaken the fleeting glory from thyself. Rejoice, elusive resident of the capture of Belial; Rejoice, victorious tormentor of deceit. Rejoice, not sparing your life for Christ; Rejoice, enemy who appears hostile to the flesh. Rejoice, thou who didst oppress the breadth of polytheism; Rejoice, straightening idols by divine power. Rejoice, sharpest arrow, stinging enemies; Rejoice, representative, intercede believers. Rejoice, great martyr and healer Panteleimon.

Strangely, the Lord appeared to you, encouraging and observing in torment for His Name: in the image of Presbyter Yermolai, bubbling tin, you were cast into tenderness, cool, and in the sea, having removed the great stone from your neck, lead it unharmed to the earth. But you, again appearing before the king, solemnly sang to Christ God: Alleluia.

Settling all the mind in Heaven, and you do not leave those below on earth, dwelling with us with your all-honored head, great passion-bearer of Christ, receiving from the Lord and giving enlightenment and sanctification to those crying out to you such: Rejoice, full of divine wisdom; Rejoice, God's providence for us is mysterious. Rejoice, delight of God-wise minds; Rejoice, joy of God-loving souls. Rejoice, brightest bead of Christ; Rejoice, sanctified soul and body. Rejoice, in the courts of the first-born in Heaven you dwelled; Rejoice, devils dwell in blessed ones. Rejoice, light of the Trinity to the viewer; Rejoice, in prayers to God a warm intercessor for us. Rejoice, giving enlightenment to souls; Rejoice, sending consolation to those who mourn. Rejoice, great martyr and healer Panteleimon.

Be amazed at every nature, Panteleimon, at the radiance of grace and the wealth of virtues in you: more angelic than your purity, great courage in fierce suffering, strong love for Christ and much compassion for people, in them you do glorious, in a hedgehog to sing: Alleluia.

Vetia of many stories will not be able to praise your struggles, glorious victorious, how, by the invincible power of God, young years defeat the ancient and primordial enemy and shame the idol charm. We, filled with wonder, call to you: Rejoice, joyful sight of the Angels; Rejoice, reverent astonishment of men. Rejoice, pouring out blood for Christ and exuding milk in death; Rejoice, thou who didst betray the body of martyrdom for Him. Rejoice, confession is the rule; Rejoice, good warrior of the King of kings. Rejoice, victorious overpowering darkness; Rejoice, gladdened by your victory of heaven and earth. Rejoice, blessed inhabitant of the mountain world; Rejoice, wise wanderer of the valley of the world. Rejoice, tree adorned with the fruits of grace-giving gifts; rejoice, wear good victorious branches. Rejoice, great martyr and healer Panteleimon.

He is filled with compassion, as a true imitator of the Giver of the mercy of the Lord, an honest sufferer, Panteleimon (there is, all-merciful) from Him you are named, pouring out mercy on all those who flow to you, and pour out to us, crying out to God about you: Alleluia.

The tormentor has gained a firm wall, I will conquer with no torments, try to crush your fortress with the teeth of animals and the points of the tormenting wheel, both in this nothing is successful: the power of Christ is the ferocity of the beasts to tame, and the terrible stake, on which your body is turned, aby be crushed. We call to you, the invincible passion-bearer: Rejoice, honest election of Christ; Rejoice, undefiled fragrance of God. Rejoice, firm adamante of the Church; Rejoice, unshakable pillar, reach up to Heaven. Rejoice, taming the visible beasts; Rejoice, destroying the invisible dragons. Rejoice, stained with your blood for Christ, diluted with milk; Rejoice, unfading recipient of crowns. Rejoice, joy caused by an angel and a man; Rejoice, glorified by God in Heaven and on earth. Rejoice, celestial, rejoice with the martyrs; rejoice, sated with the sight of the sweet Christ. Rejoice, great martyr and healer Panteleimon.

We bring the original song to your sacred slaughter for Christ, in it, together with the blood, the milk will flow from you, the great martyr, and the olive tree, under it you were truncated, filled with healing fruits. To the same Christ, marvelously glorifying those who glorify Him, we warmly cry out: Alleluia.

You were a luminous ray, O God-wise, sitting in the darkness of polytheism, guiding Christ God to the Sun of Truth, praying to Him, in the light of His commandments to abide for us, joyful to you bringing: Rejoice, bright star, shining on the mental firmament; Rejoice, beam, shining with Christ-named people. Rejoice, mysteriously shrouded from the Sun of Christ; rejoice, cleverly flow around the earth. Rejoice, red village of the Most Holy Spirit; Rejoice, holy vessel, pour out healing. Rejoice, treasure of purity; rejoice, favor namesake. Rejoice, successor of the Kingdom of Heaven; Rejoice, partaker of eternal glory. Rejoice, representative of the distressed in the sea of life; Rejoice, unmercenary, helping those who call you with faith. Rejoice, great martyr and healer Panteleimon.

Thou hast received abundance of grace, blessed, according to the abundance of thy love for Christ God. Even manifest you as a multi-healing source, gratuitously healing mental and bodily diseases flowing to you with faith and crying out to God: Alleluia.

Singing your long-suffering deeds for Christ, glorious passion-bearer, we praise your long-suffering, we bless your martyrdom, we honor your sacred memory, our intercessor and healer, and we call you in praise of the sitz: Rejoice, piety trumpet melodious; rejoice, sword, cut down wickedness. Rejoice, planed on the tree for Your outstretched hand on the tree of the Cross; Rejoice, as if we are burning for Him, thou hast extinguished the charms of the furnace. Rejoice, wounded by your enemies with ulcers; Rejoice, with your blood the currents of idol blood are dried up. Rejoice, cast into boiling tin for Christ; rejoice, immersed for His Name in the waters of the sea. Rejoice, by the providence of God you are unharmed in these; Rejoice, for through the fire and water of torment you entered into heavenly rest. Rejoice, pour out inexhaustible jets of mercy to the faithful; Rejoice, compassionate doctor, grant healing grace. Rejoice, great martyr and healer Panteleimon.

Yes, yes, having been honored by you with great and rich mercies, let us glorify you and the Giver of all blessings, wondrous in the saints, our God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer three

To you, as a gratuitous doctor, comforter of the mourners, enricher of the poor, we now resort, Saint Panteleimon. Having learned well the wisdom of the worldly wisdom and the art of medicine, you believed in Christ and, from Him, the gift of healing, healed them without compensation. Distributing all your wealth to the poor, the poor, orphans and widows, in the bonds of the languid you visited, the holy sufferer of Christ, and comforted them with healing, conversation and alms.
For faith in Christ, you experienced manifold torments, you were beheaded with a sword, and before your death, Christ, appearing, called you Panteleimon, that is, all-merciful, because he gave you the grace to always have mercy on all those who come to you in any circumstances and sorrows. Prayer Four

Oh, the great saint of Christ, the passion-bearer and doctor, the many-merciful Panteleimon!
Hey, God's servant! Pray for Christ God, that by your intercession he will grant health to my body and the salvation of my soul. Amen.

Prayer Five

Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon! Pray to God for us (names) and do not let the diseases that hurt the soul and body stay in it any longer! Heal those ulcers and scabs that are caused to us by our passions.
We ache with laziness and relaxation of the healed. We are sick with attraction and addiction to earthly objects of healing. We hurt, O Saint Panteleimon! We suffer from forgetfulness: about the work of salvation, about our sins and weaknesses, about our duties to heal us. We hurt with rancor, anger, hatred, heal, about the healer of St. Athos and the world. We hurt with envy, pride, arrogance, exaltation, with all the poverty and lewdness of the healed. We suffer from many and different fits of carnality: gluttony, intemperance, polygamy, voluptuousness of the healer. We are sick of drowsiness, verbosity, idle talk, condemnation of the healed us, O Saint Panteleimon!
Our eyes hurt with sinful views, our ears hurt with hearing idle talk, slander, and slander of the healer. Hands ache with a disposition to prayerful uplifting and to giving alms to the healed. Our legs hurt because of our unwillingness to hastily go to the temple of the Lord and the desire to walk through the streets and visit the houses of worldly healing. It hurts, our tongue hurts, our mouths: idle talk, idle talk, slander, turning away from prayers and hymns, or pronouncing them carelessly, absent-mindedly, without attention, without the concept of healing, O merciful one!
We ache from head to toe: our reason hurts with dullness, unreasonableness and madness; the will hurts in us, turning away from holy occupations and striving for deeds harmful and ungodly; the memory hurts in us, which has forgotten our sins and contains in itself the sins and insults of our neighbors; the imagination hurts in us, not being able and not wanting to vividly present to us our death, the eternal torment of sinners, the blessings of the Kingdom of Heaven, God's wrath, the sufferings of Christ on the Cross, His crucifixion of healing, O Saint Panteleimon! Everything in us hurts. Our whole soul, with all its powers and abilities, is also weak. Our entire body, with all its members, also does not exist.
Heal us, O Saint Panteleimon, Healer, unmercenary and loving Healer, servant of the Most Holy Theotokos, and do not leave our penitence in the multitude of ailments and in the multitude of infirmities: yes, being healed by your grace, I will glorify the Most Holy Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and the Most Holy Mother of God, to you sending to the service of the sick, and I will thank yours, O holy Panteleimon, whole-bearing. Amen.

Prayer of thanks to St. Panteleimon (after healing)

Holy Great Martyr, Healer and Wonderworker Panteleimon, all-good servant of God and prayer book of Orthodox Christians! You were worthy named Panteleimon, even if you are all-merciful, as if having received from God the grace to pray for us and heal illnesses, you richly give to everyone who flows to you, various healings and all for temporary life and for salvation. For this sake, we, unworthy, having been honored by your mercy, again before your holy icon, we run to you, and glorifying you, as a sincere saint of God, our faithful prayer book and healer, we thank you with zeal and the Giver of all the blessings of the Lord our God for great blessings, from Him you were to us.
Graciously accept this little prayerful thanksgiving of ours, for it is not the imams who otherwise give you according to your property, and the rest of the time of our belly do not deprive us, weak and sinners, of your help and prayerful intercession with the Lord our God, but all glory, thanksgiving and worship, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.
