What does it mean to read a prayer and yawn. Why do you yawn when you read a prayer - reasons and what to do. Yawning is a clear sign of the evil eye

One of the most controversial signs is why you yawn when you read a prayer. There is an assumption that this is because of a demon sitting in a person and interfering with the holy texts. But is this true, or can we yawn while reading doxology for other reasons?

Yawning when praying, beliefs and facts

According to doctors, the phenomenon may be provoked by non-magical factors:

  • a small amount of oxygen in the room;
  • fatigue, lack of sleep;
  • nervous shock. Sometimes yawning affects the body like a sedative. If a person is very worried, he may begin to yawn. It is believed that this makes it possible to relax a little, get distracted, bring the body into tone;
  • in the presence of certain ailments, it is worth consulting a doctor who can explain the phenomenon;
  • banal boredom.

Popular beliefs also give their explanations. For example, yawning when praying makes devilry in a person who resists giving praises to the Lord.

The opinion of the church on this issue is ambiguous. Some priests deny the existence of magic, because these are just scary stories.

Others are inclined to believe that demons can really take possession of a person, making him possessed. At the same time, it is assumed that a person can yawn while reading prayers if the demons are not in him, but nearby.

When the cause of the evil eye or damage

There are many opinions whether there is damage or the evil eye and whether it manifests itself through yawning. The clergy do not believe in the existence of negative programs.

However, numerous magicians and sorcerers convince us of the opposite. So, frequent yawning during prayer, staying in holy places, in a temple at or another ceremony, signals the presence of the evil eye, damage.

Signs of a negative program - constantly wanting to sleep, lack of desire to do anything. Also point to prisushka, strife, love spell, however, any witchcraft program can manifest itself as a yawn.

You can eliminate the negative using praises to eliminate damage. After you get rid of yawning, be sure to put yourself a reliable protection against damage, the evil eye and other witchcraft actions.

Is yawning in a church, a temple, a sign of purification?

Frequent yawning can be not only a sign of a negative program, but also its removal. If a person had an evil eye, a love spell and they began to take them off, the negative thus begins to come out.

In this case, yawning may be accompanied by headache, dizziness. In addition, tears may begin to flow, stuffy nose, start to tickle in the throat. In this case, you need to wait until the symptoms go away on their own.

If the program was not strong (the usual evil eye), a person will begin to be cleansed as soon as he enters the temple or Holy place. This does not even require special conspiracies.

What should I do if I yawn when I say a prayer?

If the cause is stuffiness in the room, fatigue, just get enough sleep and ventilate the room. But if you think that this is the presence of a demon in you or evil spirits nearby, perform such a ceremony.

On the waning moon at 12 o'clock at night, take one bought at dawn in the temple, pour the holy water collected in the morning into the container. Turn to face the window, light a candle and say:

Light a candle and pray to God. In the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I drive out all demons from myself, I defend myself from evil spirits. As the moon wanes, so does your strength. I conjure evil spirits, from now on you will not come to me, hear my prayer, but disappear. Amen.

You are allowed to speak the text as much as you see fit. Try not to yawn while reading. If it does not come out, the ritual is performed the next evening.

With frequent and severe bouts of yawning, light another church candle and read the most strong prayer Our Father . You need to repeat it until it gets better.

After stopping yawning, it is advised to immediately conduct a ritual of cleansing yourself, the room where you live, and put reliable protection with the help of prayers from evil.

The cause of yawning has not yet been discovered by science. Among the people, it is associated with the presence of damage, the presence of demons nearby or in a person. We apologize on behalf of the editors for the fact that this article provoked you at least one yawn.

Watching the believers in the temple, you can see that some of them periodically yawn. It is not uncommon for the clergy themselves to do this. Of course, many people wonder why they want to yawn during prayer.

Of course, they are interested mainly in the signs associated with this reflex action. This is quite natural, given the place in which this desire arises. Yes, and among the people there are many superstitions associated with a sudden surging desire to yawn. However, the causes of this phenomenon do not always have mystical roots. As a rule, a person who wonders why this happens to him finds the answer in very prosaic, physiological moments.

What is a yawn?

According to the medical definition, this is a specific act of breathing that has a reflex basis. Its mechanics are as follows:

  • there is a deep breath with an instant, sharp exhalation;
  • the mouth, pharynx and glottis are wide open during this action.

Regarding why a person yawns during prayer while in church, doctors do not have separate explanations. Doctors believe that the reflex is caused by objective and physiological reasons that have nothing to do with the process of prayer.

What do psychologists and esotericists think?

In psychology, it is generally accepted that a spontaneously arising desire to yawn appears at the moment when the human brain is trying to destroy the clamps or blocks in the mind. Their role is usually played by restrained emotions, for example, resentment, anger, anger, neglect, disgust, and others. Can cause an uncontrollable reflex and prolonged stress.

From an esoteric point of view, the desire to yawn is a sign of the need to cleanse the energy channels. That is, the spontaneous manifestation of this reflex indicates the presence of some kind of negativity that you need to get rid of.

The positions of mystics and psychologists are very similar. As for why you yawn during prayer, then God's temple is just the place in which cleansing from the accumulated negativity or getting rid of psychological clamps occurs spontaneously. As a rule, in churches there is a special atmosphere, as they say, prayerful.

What are folk tales about?

From time immemorial, healers, fortune tellers, sorceresses, and ordinary people, too, considered spontaneous yawning to be God's temple a sign that damage is leaving a person or the evil eye is leaving him.

In other words, why you yawn during prayer is a symptom of “squeezing out” someone’s evil influence from yourself. However, a person may experience a similar desire while being close to a corrupted person or standing close to a person spreading negative energy.

There is also an opinion that a person yawning in God's temple is possessed by demons. This does not mean at all that the person experiencing such a need needs the help of an exorcist. By "demons" is meant not only the fact that an otherworldly entity has inhabited a person, but also the presence of any vices.

What do the priests think?

Church officials do not consider yawning during prayer to be a sign of demon possession or evidence of a person's depravity. But they do not deny the possibility of this. For the same phenomena as damage, the evil eye or other forms of divination, the church has been skeptical from time immemorial.

As for demonic obsessions, if a person approaches a priest with the phrase: “I yawn during prayer,” the clergyman will definitely take an interest in how the parishioner feels in general. The desire to yawn that spontaneously arises in the church is not the only evidence of "devilry", which in Orthodoxy means not only obsession, vices or sinfulness, but also mental confusion, a state of fear, grief and other mental difficulties.

What are the objective reasons for yawning?

When a person has a question: “Why do I yawn while reading a prayer?”, He should not immediately look for an answer in folk beliefs or in mysticism. It is likely that the reflex desire arose for one of these very prosaic reasons:

  • boredom, it is no secret that most people who come to worship services have little understanding of what is happening in the temple, and the monotonous singing of the priests evokes drowsiness;
  • stuffiness or a specific smell, an abundance of believers and smoking incense contribute to oxygen deficiency, its insufficient intake into the body;
  • lack of sleep, especially chronic;
  • fatigue, both physical and mental;
  • state of stress, nervous overwork.

Quite often, elderly parishioners complain about yawning during the evening service, starting from late spring and ending in the autumn months. Usually the cause of the reflex desire to yawn in this case is an excess of fresh air, combined with physical fatigue. As a rule, people return from summer cottages, that is, they come to church after a whole day spent in nature.

How to understand that the reason is damage?

Although the church is skeptical about statements about the evil eye, damage, or other options for negative energy impact, most people believe in the existence of such phenomena.

If the reason why you start to yawn during prayer lies in someone’s evil machinations, then an uncontrollable desire reflexively arising will not be the only evidence of damage or the evil eye.

The following signs indicate that a person’s karma has been subjected to someone’s evil attack:

  • persistent feeling of fatigue, exhaustion;
  • blurred, difficult or distorted understanding of what is happening around;
  • constant desire to sleep;
  • unsightly appearance.

These are the manifestations that a person feels in himself, a kind of symptoms that speak of energy ill health. In addition to them, there is other evidence indicating that the answer to the question of why you yawn during prayer lies in damage.

What else says about the likelihood of damage?

For centuries, there has been a belief among the people that the desire to yawn that arises when reading prayers is associated with evil divination or demonic intrigues. Moreover, according to signs, the reflex overtakes a person not only while standing in a church service.

Divination has long been considered the reason why, while reading a prayer, you begin to yawn while at home. Indeed, how can one explain the reflex that occurs when turning to the Lord outside the church walls? As a rule, people do not forget to ventilate their homes and incense burners are usually not installed, with rare exceptions.

In addition to the urge to yawn when home prayer The following circumstances may indicate the evil eye:

  • a series of inexplicable failures, both in the professional and personal spheres;
  • change in relation to loved ones, relatives or loved ones;
  • disturbing dreams;
  • small everyday troubles that happen all the time.

If such events take place in life, there is no need to look for sorcerers and demand to remove the evil eye. You should come to the temple and talk confidentially with the clergyman, explaining your concerns to him.

What to do if the reason is damage?

In the old days, being sure that why you yawn during prayer is connected either with demons or with the evil eye, they resorted to the help of holy water and silver. Silver acted as a kind of test. It was believed that if a silver item darkened after a day of being worn by a person, then he needed urgent help. They sprinkled the walls with holy water, going around their dwelling with a prayer and a lit church candle.

Of course, the most in an efficient way getting rid of negative impact was a prayer in God's temple. It was believed that the mere presence in the church contributes to the purification of both corruption and demonism. Help in this situation protective prayers from all evil.

However, you need to understand that why you want to yawn during prayer may have physiological or psychological roots. If a spontaneous reflex overcomes too often, it is worth visiting the doctors and making sure that there are no diseases.

Have you noticed that when you come to church, calm down and stand in the service, or when you start to read a prayer at home, you are overcome by yawns? And the more and more often you yawn, the easier it becomes, right? Why do you think this is happening?

There is an opinion that demons live in people, and therefore, in moments of unity with God, anything happens. On the other hand, there are quite practical and understandable explanations for yawning. But first things first.

Yawning most often occurs during moments of relaxation. And when you read a prayer or come to the temple, you do not brew coffee at the same time and do not talk on the phone. You tune in to calm and relax. Although, believers say that it is in moments of relaxation that demons visit a person, and they interpret this explanation in their own way.

Frequent yawning while praying

If, when reading prayers or conspiracies, a person starts yawning for no reason and this does not go away, you should take a closer look at the room where you are. If yawning overcomes in a certain place - most likely, there is simply nothing to breathe in the room and it is very stuffy, which explains the corresponding reaction of the body.

Be sure to pay attention to your own condition and time of day. So, if you yawn early in the morning, not getting enough sleep, after a hard previous working day, then it’s no wonder: you just want to sleep. The process of yawning in this case is completely natural.

But when yawning begins in a rested state and regardless of where you are, it is quite possible that dark forces are trying to influence you. Unclean forces often try to interfere with people who read prayers, sending yawns, sneezes, itching, etc., preventing them from concentrating. And it is advisable not to ignore this bad influence, but to get rid of it.

How to get rid of the influence of evil spirits

Every day in the evenings, during the period of the waning moon, you need to light a blue candle, place it in an uncut glass, pre-filled with salt, and read the following conspiracy 3 times in a row:

“In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I expel from myself, from the environment of furry devils, black demons, evil devils and all the evil spirits of the underworld. I conjure you, unclean ones, from now on do not approach me, do not ruin my prayer. Amen".

And when you read, try to suppress a yawn.

Yawning is a clear sign of the evil eye

It is believed that if a yawn appears during prayer, it indicates the evil eye, which must be urgently removed. It is not very difficult to do this.

You need to take a blunt knife and press a little on the skin, near the heart, drawing a cross 33 times in a row. At this point, you need to read the following words:

“I take out the evil eye, let it go into the clouds, I continue to live without the evil eye. I kill with a knife, I pierce with a knife, I fix it with a cross. Amen".

That's all.

Why do people yawn?

There can be many reasons for yawning, especially if they are associated with the peculiarities of the body or problems with certain systems.

Possible causes of frequent yawning:

Many people notice that when visiting a church, standing at a service in a temple, or reading a prayer at home, a person begins to yawn. And the more he does it, the easier it gets. Why is this happening? There is an opinion that a demon sits in a person, and therefore this happens. Is it true?

In fact, yawning may appear due to relaxation. While visiting a temple or when reading prayers, a person relaxes. At this moment, demons can tempt our flesh, but do not think that yawning is a sign of demonic possession.

Yawning while praying

If, while reading conspiracies or prayers, you begin to yawn, and yawning does not let you go, pay attention to the room in which you pray. If this happens only in a certain place, then it is quite possible that the room is stuffy and there is nothing to breathe; so because of lack of oxygen you start yawning.

You should also pay attention to the time of day and your condition. If this happens early in the morning, in the evening after a hard day at work, or when you are very tired, then you may just want to sleep, and yawning is a completely natural process.

If you begin to yawn regardless of the time of day and the room in which you are, then there is a possibility that dark forces influence you. As you know, evil spirits very often interfere with a person who reads prayers, sending him sneezing, yawning, itching, etc. To get rid of bad influence, do the following.

During the waning moon, light a blue candle every evening in the evening, put it in an uncut glass filled with salt and read the plot 3 times:

“In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I expel from myself, from the environment of furry devils, black demons, evil devils and all the evil spirits of the underworld. I conjure you, unclean ones, from now on do not approach me, do not ruin my prayer. Amen"

Try not to yawn while reading.

Yawning as a sign of evil eye

There is also an opinion that yawning during prayer is a sign of the evil eye, which must be eliminated. This can be done in the following way.

Take a non-sharp knife, and lightly pressing it on the skin, draw a cross 33 times in the region of the heart, reading during this conspiracy:

“I take out the evil eye, let it go into the clouds, I continue to live without the evil eye. I kill with a knife, I pierce with a knife, I fix it with a cross. Amen.

Why does a person yawn?

The reasons for yawning are varied. Let's consider them in more detail:

  1. Imbalance of carbon dioxide and oxygen. When a lot of carbon dioxide accumulates in our blood, our body responds by yawning, during which a person receives a large portion of oxygen, which allows us to maintain balance.
  2. Yawning as an energy drink. Yawning in the morning helps our body wake up. For the same purpose, a person begins to yawn, feeling signs of fatigue. There is a connection between yawning and stretching. If these two processes are done simultaneously, then we will not only saturate the blood with oxygen, but also improve blood circulation. After such actions, attention increases, and the person feels more cheerful.
  3. Yawning as a sedative. Before exciting events, many people begin to yawn, which allows them to activate energy and cheer up. Yawning has been observed to "attack" students before exams, athletes before competitions, patients before examinations, artists before performances. This process brings the body into tone and helps to cope with excitement.
  4. Yawning is good for the nose and ears. During it, the channels leading to the Eustachian tubes and maxillary sinuses open and straighten out, this helps to get rid of "stuffiness" in the ears.
  5. Relaxation by yawning. Yawning not only invigorates, but can also relax. Arbitrary yawning is used in some relaxation techniques. It is necessary to lie down, relax as much as possible and open your mouth - very soon the process of yawning will begin, after which you will feel calm and peaceful.
  6. Yawning before going to sleep. In the evening, our body prepares for sleep, our heartbeat returns to normal, there is a feeling of peace. Yawning helps us relax after a busy day. This is why people yawn before going to bed.
  7. Yawning to nourish the brain. Scientists say that in a person who is in a state of passivity, breathing slows down, and nerve cells begin to work worse. When yawning, the lack of oxygen is replenished and blood circulation improves. The brain receives the required nutrition, and we cheer up - both mentally and physically. That's why people yawn when they're bored.
  8. Yawning reduces mental stress. This is probably why we yawn when we watch a boring movie or listen to an uninteresting lecture.
  9. Yawning is like a mini facial exercise. By yawning, we improve the blood supply to brain cells. This is due to the fact that during this process the muscles of the face, neck and oral cavity are tense. Such gymnastics activates the work of the brain.
  10. regulation of brain temperature. Some scientists claim that yawning serves as a regulator of brain temperature. When a person is hot, he yawns more often, thus getting a portion of cool and fresh air, thanks to which the brain “cools” and begins to function normally.

Yawning: interesting facts

  • a person yawns on average for about 6 seconds;
  • autistic children usually do not yawn in response;
  • the frequency of yawning in men and women is the same;
  • men are less likely to cover their mouths while yawning;
  • people who yawn too often should see a doctor, as this may be a sign of some medical conditions.

You may have noticed that yawning is contagious. If you look at a yawning person, you will soon begin to yawn yourself. Scientists argue that this is due to the fact that we subconsciously empathize with other people, and therefore it happens.

What is the difference between penitent crying and hysterical crying?

Hysterical crying is ungrateful, angry, bitter. And when a person repents of sins and cries, then at that time he has sweet, repentant tears. The soul at this time is washed. This can be clearly explained by the following example: two cars are driving one after the other; dirt flies from under the wheels from the first car and hits the windshield of the second car, making it invisible. How to clean the glass so that you can look ahead at the road? It is necessary to turn on the brush-wipers, and they will clean the glass. But sometimes they can't handle the dirt. Then you need to add some water. And as the water gets on the glass, you look - the wipers quickly clean the glass from dirt. Here, exactly the same life path our soul is defiled by the filth of sins. When we begin to repent, it is of little use if we simply “dry” tell the sins, listing them. Here, tears of repentance are also needed, then the soul will quickly be cleansed.

Is it okay to cry while praying?

Can. Tears of repentance are not tears of evil and resentment, they wash our souls from sins. The more we cry, the better. It is very valuable to cry during prayer. When we pray - we read prayers - and at that time our mind lingered on some words (they penetrated our soul), we should not skip them, speed up the prayer; return to these words, and read until the soul dissolves in feeling and begins to cry. The soul prays at this time. When the soul is in prayer, and even with tears, the Guardian Angel is next to her; he prays next to us. Any sincerely believing person from practice knows that the Lord hears his prayer. We turn the words of prayer to God, and He returns them by grace to our hearts, and the heart of the believer feels that the Lord accepts his prayer.

My mother during morning reading or evening prayers always cries and remembers his sins from childhood. This torments her, and she gets upset, and thinks: “What are these tears, maybe they are from the enemy?”

When a person reads prayers, an akathist, a Psalter and cries with repentant tears, feels how great his sins are before God, then these tears are gracious.

The Lord also showed me, a sinner, what tears of repentance mean. I studied at the seminary, and went on holidays to the Pochaev Lavra. I got up at an early liturgy under the kliros - and suddenly this came over me. Never experienced before in my life! The grace of God came down and I wept. He wept not only for his sins, but also for the whole world, lying in sin, in darkness. So the whole liturgy passed. Of course, I wanted this state to last longer, but I studied, and you can’t be alone in the classroom. Thus my tears ceased: the people were all around, and my soul wept when I felt only the One God around me. God comes in silence.

Let a person cry as long as repentance is enough. it special condition souls, it must be kept both by one's neighbor and by the person himself. Tears wash, whiten our soul from sins. A person prays and cleanses himself of filth, and the prayer of his righteous soul will keep his relatives. And this is also one of the signs of humility.

Father Oleg's answer: TO HELP THE PENITENT AND CRYING

Father, I want to ask you about tears during the Jesus Prayer. Father, it often happens that when tears come during the Jesus Prayer and you cry and realize, as if in a small part, your sinfulness, at this time, with tears and weeping, you thank God for your tears, for everything good, and for everything else, what He gives you, a sinner. You understand that if you cry, then God, in an invisible way for you, was present at your prayer. It’s as if you remember again how, during prayer and standing before God, you fell into various thoughts and therefore you understand that you had the gift of crying not because of any of your merits, but simply by God’s mercy to you, a truly sinner . This leads me to tears and weeping during prayer, and it moves me to tears and weeping again.

Father, but after tears comes a kind of tenderness, and no matter how hard it is to pray, the Jesus Prayer seems to be moved and I feel that I pronounce it more automatically. It's like there's some kind of uneasiness. Sorry, Father, I can’t explain correctly, but you are better than me and more experienced, and you know what a feeling it is.

Father, I ask you to help me understand what kind of feeling this is and what I should do at this time, so as not to remain thankful to God for the mercy shown to me, a sinner, by giving me crying and tears during prayer.

ANSWER FATHER OLEG

Tenderness is a small contrition. This is the state of a melted heart. It is a state that produces weeping and tears. Strong tenderness is called contrition. Tenderness is a gracious gift of God, and even more so, contrition, weeping and tears from it.

By our attentive invocation of the name of Jesus Christ, we beat our hard and stony heart, soften it and shrink it. The power of the name of God squeezes our heart, and it is waiting for expansion. This is our preparation for destruction. Our job is to desire contrition and weeping, to force ourselves to it with every prayer and reading of Scripture and the writings of the fathers, and to ask God to grant it. Our heart, when carefully pronouncing the name of Jesus Christ on the surface of it, feels the power of the name of God, receives an impression from this name and shrinks. Then a moment comes when God, seeing our readiness for contrition, sends a contrite thought-key. It can be a short prayer. Part of a prayer and even a couple of words, for example, "Our Father." It can be a short saying from Scripture, from the writings of the fathers, a line from a poem or a song that suits your condition and can lead you to cry.

For example, you say the beginning of the prayer "Our Father" - just the first two words. And God helps you to see with your spirit and repentantly feel and experience the next object that has been revealed to your spirit, which can be expressed roughly like this:

God is your Heavenly, Living and Almighty Father, and you, having such a perfect, pure and holy Father, are tormented in this life! You feel bad, uncomfortable and painful. You are dirty, sticky, vile, weak and sinful, but you have such a Father! And in this contrast - Who He is, and who you are - a strong contrition is born in you, producing weeping and, often, copious tears. All the time you repeat only the words “Our Father”, and you yourself see and experience the spiritual understanding that they now carry for you. So you support yourself in crying as much as possible for you, and God is pleased to grant it to you today. It was God who visited you at your prayer! It was He who sent you a crushing thought and revealed what your spirit saw, which led it to weep and tremble before Him. With this grace-filled weeping (although it was given to you in advance, for a time, on loan), your heart expands, frees itself from its former tightness, and is comforted by weeping. This weeping reconciles you with God for a while, and you feel hope for mercy and salvation. Since your God does this to you, it means that He is leading you to purification and salvation! During this crying, you feel the softness and revival of your heart. You feel its purity. During weeping, it becomes for the first time able to unhypocritically and unselfishly love God and neighbors! You love God as the Source of life and salvation. You in your crying for the first time felt and felt real life. This spiritual feeling is in no way transferable and it is not felt in any way, except in one's living experience. Having experienced this life, you come out of the former charm, realizing that up to this moment you had no life and even no idea about it! You realize that you were dead and dying.

But then the meeting with God ended, and God quietly and imperceptibly left, leaving you in a repentant mood and a humble state. Now you have experienced for the first time what repentance is that God accepts. You also know why He accepts it and what it gives you and does to you. You have corrected all the previously incorrect concepts of repentance, lamentation, contrition, tears, life, spirituality, the fruits of repentance, purity of mind and heart, and so on. You have come to know God as Your merciful and caring Benefactor, helper. The source of your true life and gifts that are important to you - the gifts of God's justifications. It is about this that we, following the holy King David, pray, “Teach me your justification”, “Always enlarge my heart” and much more.

God left, and you continued your crying by compulsion. But soon you saw the difference between the states when God was with you and when you, although in a good state, were left alone. Tears dried up. My heart wept and calmed down. God accepted your repentance today - and this is the most important and important thing for you. A peaceful dispensation, a humble state and the impression of the experience remain with you. You have received spiritual experience and personal guidance. The memory of what you experienced will forever remain in your heart, helping to bring it to a repentant feeling. You are spiritually enriched by God and blessed. Do not forget to thank Him from the bottom of your heart for His mercy, great gift and indulgence towards you, the unworthy one.

God is gone, that is why the prayerful feeling and desire diminished, the crying of the heart softened and humbled by him ceased. But this is not insensibility, but the experience of a new post-rain state. This is a state of softness of heart, peace, benevolence towards all and gratitude to God. It is clear that we cannot immediately switch to a purely attentive, conscious Jesus prayer. We need to stay in this state for a while, watching ourselves. Write down the experience. Remember this grace of God and give thanks to God in order to keep His favor and the treasure given to you. This is an oasis, and there is still a difficult road ahead through the desert, from oasis to oasis to the promised land. There are still many battles and temptations ahead.

Then the penitential weekdays come for you again. Again you need to call on the name of God. Again resistance to passionate thoughts and sensations. Again, the struggle with the spirits for their purification and salvation. Again prayers for the need of the day. Again, reinforcements from church sacraments and requirements. Again confession and confession of the state before the spiritual father. Again the search for God and meeting with Him. Again oppression of your heart. Again, unexpected, as always, a visit from God and the gift of a new crushing thought-key. Again, purification, humility and a sense of life. New knowledge, new experience, new knowledge of the infinite God. Again, contrition and weeping over a specific new subject, and progress towards mastery of one’s heart - to a state of permanent contrition and humility, which is a sacrifice that is pleasing to God, which He will not humiliate (i.e., He will not humiliate and reject), but will accept as fragrant and pleasant to him.

Thus we repentantly remake ourselves with God help from the old to the new man. Thus, we bring God-pleasing repentance to God and advance in the work of our salvation. This is how we acquire humility and love. This is how we reconcile and make friends with God! So God knows us, and we know Him! Whoever is outside of this blessed work can hear the formidable voice of God: “Depart from me, workers of iniquity and unrighteousness, I do not know you!” He will hear this sentence even if he prayed, fasted, did alms and other virtues and fulfilled the commandments of Christ, and even performed miracles in His name. Why is that? Yes, because he did all this not from a broken and humble heart! This means that he did it hypocritically, selfishly, with self-respect, self-importance, pride and vanity, as if he did not know the blessed weeping and God found in this weeping. For this he is humiliated and rejected by God.

“All-merciful God, I do not attain repentance, below tears, for this sake I pray to Thee, grant me an ever-contrite heart and spiritual poverty! Yes, I will bring this to you, as a pleasant sacrifice, the only Savior! (From the great canon of Andrew of Crete, canto 8).

Tears while reading prayers. Why?

Judging by your description, you have been reading prayers recently. If, when pronouncing the text of the prayer and visiting the church, you do not feel negative manifestations (headache, trembling of the limbs and body, nausea, etc.), then there is no need to talk about any damage.

And tears during prayer are the grace of God. After these tears, you probably feel lightness in the body, a feeling of peace and incredible peace of mind comes. Over time, unfortunately, this will pass. Until then, enjoy it. As the magicians will tell you, there is a connection to Orthodox egregor and very complete. And you feel the filling of its energy and so you react to it.

Congratulations! You have found your source of strength and it is open to you. Now any of your actions that do not go against Orthodox rules, will be supported by this source. Giordano Luca "Tears of Saint Peter"

Often, during spiritual practices, many people begin to cry. Crying can happen both during group practice and in private practice at home. Some beginners are surprised and bewildered by this crying, which happens either to themselves or they observe it from other people. In fact, crying during prayer and contemplative practices, when the grace of God begins to work with a person’s soul, is a completely natural and even desirable process.

A clear explanation for tears during prayer and contemplation is given by Christian holy fathers. They teach that there are several varieties of tears.

  1. Lamentation for God (penitential lamentation). Such weeping occurs when the heart is cleansed of sins and acquires spiritual sensitivity, getting rid of bitterness and petrification. Tears of repentance are a cure for a sick soul. They flow from a penitent and contrite heart, and this process is often subconscious, a person cannot control or hold back his tears - it is controlled by the Holy Spirit in him. Such tears may appear externally, but may remain invisible in the form of internal crying. The saints urge not to try to hold back the tears of repentance, to give the heart an opportunity to cleanse itself.

Many holy fathers valued repentant lamentation so highly that they even called for praying to God for the gift of tears. They believed that tears are a sign of a reborn person. After all, we cannot know ourselves without tears, for if we realize our sinfulness (and this is a consequence of the presence of the grace of God in us), if we acquire the gift of self-knowledge and self-reproach, then we immediately begin to cry. Thus, tears of repentance open the eyes of the soul. The experience of the Holy Fathers says that where there is weeping, there is no place for sin, “just as water washes away letters, so a tear can wash away sins, cleansing us and washing us from filth.”

  1. Tears from Divine Tenderness. These are tears pure heart, tears of pleasure and joy that come at a meeting with Divine love. If tears of repentance “are like a river that drowns and destroys all the strongholds of sin,” then tears from divine compunction “are like rain for the fields and dew for the cereals,” bringing joy and gladness to the heart.
  2. Tears of beauty. The Holy Fathers believe that such tears are produced by the devil. When a person knows that crying is good, this is a certain indicator of some spirituality, then he can either “squeeze” tears out of himself, or, after crying, exalt himself over others (I cried, but you didn’t, which means I’m higher than you, I have a gift , I have reached, etc.). Such a process of tears from our ego, if not stopped, leads to death, to a fall. “Do not be lifted up, shedding tears in your prayer” (St. Mark the Ascetic).

Why do you yawn when you say a prayer?

Yawning is a useful physiological process that can saturate your body with positive energy and oxygen in a few seconds. Yawning can also be psychological in nature, but believe me, there is nothing fantastic or mystical about it. So what does that mean?

Why do you yawn when you say a prayer in church?

Many believers could even notice a similar habit in themselves during prayer. Many even think: “I constantly yawn during prayer. Is everything okay with me?" But few people do not ignore the fact that very often it is very stuffy in church premises.

After all, as you know, during the church service it is not allowed to open windows. As a result, the oxygen content decreases, which provokes yawning.

Reflex inhalation-exhalation is capable of normalizing the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in human blood. A sharp influx of oxygen awakens the work of the brain and the entire nervous system, which causes an active surge of strength and energy. By the way, this is also the reason why a person begins to yawn in the morning, immediately after waking up.

Many candles are often lit in the temple, which also burn enough oxygen, which increases the lack of air. Therefore, do not be surprised when you want to yawn during prayer. This is a normal and natural process.

Why do you start to yawn when you read a prayer?

We have already analyzed the main causes of yawning during prayer in the temple. All of them are quite logical. But what could be the reasons for the manifestation of such an ordinary physiological process when you read a prayer appeal at home?

In fact, everything is very simple. Let's look at a few reasons:

  1. The occurrence of such a process can be in full mental tension and complete concentration of a praying person. After all, as you know, when reading a long prayer or a psalm, great concentration is needed. During such prayers, almost all memory resources are used, and the brain works in a very busy mode. It is all this that leads to a greater need for oxygen;
  2. In addition, while reading a prayer book, a person can be in one position (standing or kneeling) for quite a long time. During this, breathing slows down, and as a result, acid starvation and slowness of the nerve endings occur;
  3. Also, a sign of yawning can be psychological roots. For example, when a believer reads a prayer in stuffy rooms, he may even subconsciously associate religion, church, spiritual life, or prayer with yawning. As a result, a person at any mention of this word begins to yawn. In order to destroy such a connection, a person needs to realize that the cause of this physiological process is not in religion. It's just a habit.

A few sharp deep breaths will help you cope with the upcoming yawn. The psychological reason will be defeated by the “do not yawn” attitude and a positive, positive mood. And always try to ventilate the room or room. Fresh air helps fight this embarrassment.

May the Lord keep you!
