Evening rule Orthodoxy to read. Orthodox prayer book. Evening prayer for the coming dream

Compiled by: Alexander Bozhenov

Foreword

The experience of educational work and interaction with the elderly in social service centers, with children under the Star of Bethlehem Orthodox-oriented children's recreation program, as well as with church-going adults in catechetical courses, reveals the enormous difficulties that these categories of believers experience in prayerful communion with God . Due to age, employment, or weak church development of children's consciousness, they do not understand the prayer books in Church Slavonic that are in general church use. At the same time, such believers sometimes have no opportunity to attend Church Slavonic courses or study it at home on their own. In addition, due to a lack of prayer and church experience, it is rare for any of the new Christians to have the opportunity to read the morning and evening rule in full.
As a result of the foregoing, an urgent need arose for the compilation and publication of the text of the main church prayers contained in the Orthodox prayer book, in Russian. The creation of such a prayer book was approved by a large number of responsible church workers and authoritative clergy, as well as Orthodox youth leaders at the conference “Youth in the Church. Problems and ways of their solution” (2005).
A short prayer book for new Christians in Russian since 2004 is being prepared by me for publication. Over the years, on the basis of consultations with specialists, the prayer book has been revised many times, in 2007 it passed philological and theological censorship, and last year received approval. Synodal department religious education and catechesis. Currently, the Hierarchy is considering the possibility of publishing this prayer book. Until the appropriate decision, it cannot be officially published in printed form.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the abundance of Thy compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash me many times from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my iniquities, and my sin is always before me. I have sinned against You, the One, and done evil in Your eyes, so that You are righteous in Your judgment and pure in Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother bore me in sin. But, behold, You loved the truth and revealed to me the hidden secret of Your wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness, and broken bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Give me back my joy hope for salvation by Thee and the dominating Spirit strengthen me. I will teach the transgressors Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from spills God of blood, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will praise your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim Your praise. If You would have desired a sacrifice, I would have offered it, but You are not pleased with a burnt offering. Sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit; You will not reject a contrite and humble heart, O God. Show me God Thy favor to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be erected. Then the sacrifices of righteousness, offerings and burnt offerings, will be pleasing to You; then they will offer calves on your altar.

Canto 1

Prayer 1, St. .

Master, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the Source of life and immortality, the Creator of all visible and invisible creation, the Father without beginning, also the eternal and also without beginning Son! By Your excessive goodness in last days incarnated, crucified and buried for us, the ungrateful and malevolent, and by Your blood renewed our nature corrupted by sin. You Yourself, immortal King, accept my sinful repentance; incline your ear to me and hear my words. For I have sinned, O Lord, I have sinned against heaven and before You, and I am not worthy to lift my eyes into heavenly the height of thy glory; for I have angered thy goodness by transgressing thy commandments and not obeying thy commandments. But You, Lord, not malice, long-suffering, many-merciful, did not allow me to perish among my iniquities, in every possible way awaiting my conversion. For You have said, O Lover of mankind, through Your prophet that You do not desire the death of a sinner, but that he turn on the path of good and was alive. You do not want, Lord, that the creation of Your hands should perish, and You do not find satisfaction in human destruction, but You desire that all be saved and reach the knowledge of the truth. Therefore, even though I am not worthy of either heaven or earth, or this short life itself, since I have enslaved myself to sin and sensual pleasures and defiled in itself Your Image, but, being Your creation and creation, I, unfortunate, do not despair of my salvation and boldly resort to Your immeasurable mercy. Accept me also, O Lord, who loves mankind, as a harlot, as a robber, as a publican, as a prodigal son. And take away from me the heavy burden of sins - You, who take on the sin of the world and heal human infirmities, - calling to You the exhausted and burdened and giving them rest, - who came to call to repentance not the righteous, but sinners. And cleanse me from all impurity of body and soul, and teach me to lead a holy life in fear of You, so that, communing, with the pure testimony of my conscience, Your Holiness, I enter into unity with Your holy Body and Blood and have You living in me and abiding with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, my God! And may the communion of Your most pure and life-giving Mysteries not be condemned to me, and may I not become weak in soul and body from their unworthy communion; but let me, until my last breath, partake of Your Holy Things not in condemnation, a in communion with the Holy Spirit, as a parting word to eternal life and in a favorable response to doomsday Yours, so that I, with all Your chosen ones, may become a participant in the fullness of Your blessings prepared by You, O Lord, for those who love You, in whom You are glorified forever. Amen.

Prayer 2, St.

Lord, my God, I realize that I am unworthy and unprepared for You to enter under the shelter of the dwelling of my soul, because it is all empty and destroyed, and there is no worthy place in me where You could lay Your head. But how did You humiliate Yourself for us, having descended from high heavenly so now descend to my insignificance. And how pleased You were to lie down in a cave, in a manger without words animals so deign to enter into the manger of my reckless soul and into my defiled body. And just as You did not hesitate to enter and take part in the supper with sinners in the house of Simon the leper, so deign to enter into the dwelling of my humble, leper and sinful soul.

And just as You did not reject a harlot and a sinner like me, who came and touched You, so have mercy on me, a sinner, who comes and touches You. And just as You did not abhor her filthy and unclean lips that kissed You, so do not abhor even more than her, my filthy and unclean lips, vile and unclean lips and my nasty and even more unclean tongue. But let me be blazing the coal of Your most holy Body and Your precious Blood for sanctification and enlightenment, for the health of my humble soul and body, for the relief of the burden of many of my sins, for protection from any devilish influence, for the elimination and curbing of my bad and harmful habits, for the mortification of passions, for to prosper in Thy Commandments, to increase Thy divine grace, to gain Thy Kingdom. For I come to Thee, O Christ God, not as bold, but as one who trusts in Thy unspeakable mercy, and that, being far apart from Thee, I should not be snatched away by the spiritual wolf. Therefore, I pray to You: as the only Holy One, sanctify, Lord, my soul and body, mind and heart, all internal organs, and renew all of me, and root the fear of You in my members, and make Your sanctification indelible in me. Be my helper and intercessor, directing, like a helmsman, peacefully my life, may I be honored at the Court to stand at Your right hand with Your Saints, the prayers and intercession of Your All-Pure Mother, Your incorporeal servants and most pure Powers and all the saints who have pleased You from eternity. Amen.

Prayer 3, St.

Lord, the only pure and immortal, according to inexpressible yours compassion and philanthropy, who took upon Himself all our complex nature from the pure virgin blood that supernaturally gave birth to You by the influx of the Holy Spirit, by the good pleasure of the eternal Father, Jesus Christ, the Wisdom of God, peace and strength! You, who accepted life-giving and saving sufferings in the flesh You assumed: the cross, nails, death - kill my bodily passions that are destructive to the soul. You who devastated the kingdom of hell with Your burial, bury my bad intentions with good thoughts and scatter the spirits of evil. You, Your life-giving on the third day from the coffin who raised up the fallen forefather with revolt, raise me also, who fell into sin, giving me the means to repentance. You, who by Your glorious ascension deified the assumed flesh and honored it to sit at the right hand of the Father, make me worthy to reach the right side of those who are being saved by the communion of Your holy Mysteries. You, who by the descent of the Comforter of the Spirit made Your holy disciples precious vessels, make me also the receptacle of His coming. You, intending to come again to judge the universe righteously, make me worthy to meet, with all Your saints, You, my Judge and Creator, coming on the clouds, so that I endlessly glorify and sing to You, with Your Father without beginning and Your All-Holy, Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 4, St.

Master, Lord, Jesus Christ, our God, the only one who has the power to forgive people's sins! As a merciful and philanthropist, neglect all my sins, committed both consciously and unconsciously, and allow me, without being condemned, to partake of Your divine, glorious, pure and life-giving Mysteries, not burdensome transgressions not into torment, nor into the multiplication of sins, but into cleansing, sanctification, as a pledge future life and the Kingdom, in protection, help and driving away enemies, in the destruction of many of my sins. For You are a merciful, compassionate and philanthropic God, and to You we send glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 5, St.

I know, Lord, that I unworthily partake of Your most pure Body and Your precious Blood, and am guilty, and I eat and drink condemnation to myself, not distinguishing Your Body and Blood, Christ and my God. But I, trusting in Your compassion, come to You, Who said: "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me and I in him." Have mercy, O Lord, and do not rebuke me, a sinner, but deal with me according to Your mercy. And may this Shrine be to me in healing, purification, enlightenment, preservation and salvation, and in the sanctification of the soul and body; to drive away everyone empty dreams, evil deeds and the influence of the devil, manifested through thoughts in my members; in boldness before You and love for You, in the correction and affirmation of life in goodness, the growth of virtue and perfection, in the fulfillment of the commandments, in communion with the Holy Spirit, in farewell to eternal life, in a favorable answer at Your terrible judgment, - not in condemnation or as punishment.

Prayer 6, St.

Let go, forgive me, forgive me my sins, O God, with which I have sinned against Thee in word, deed, thought, voluntarily and involuntarily, consciously and unconsciously, forgive me everything, for You are good and Lover of mankind. And through the prayers of Your most pure Mother, Your incorporeal servants and holy Forces, and all the saints who have pleased You from the beginning of the world, please me without judgment to accept Your holy and most pure Body and honest Blood, for the healing of soul and body and for the purification of my evil thoughts: for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 7th, his

I am not worthy, Master Lord, that You should enter under the shelter of my soul. But since You, Lover of mankind, want to live in me, I boldly approach. You command, and I will open the doors that You alone created, and You will enter with ordinary philanthropy, You will enter and enlighten my darkened mind. I believe that You will do it. For You did not leave the harlot who came to You with tears; did not reject the repentant publican; did not drive away even the robber who recognized the King in You; did not leave what he was, and the repentant persecutor Your Paul; but to all who came to You with repentance, You gave a place in the host of Your friends, the only Blessed One always, now and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 8, his

Lord Jesus Christ, my God, weaken, let go, cleanse, have mercy and forgive me, a sinner, worthless and unworthy servant of Yours, all my mistakes, sins and falls, with which I have sinned against You from my youth to this day and hour: consciously or unconsciously, in words or deeds, inclinations, thoughts, aspirations and all my feelings. And through the prayers of the Most Pure Ever-Virgin Mary, Your Mother, who has unseedlessly given birth to You, my only firm hope, protection and salvation, grant me the right to partake of Your most pure, eternal, saving and terrible Mysteries, without incurring condemnation, for the remission of sins and eternal life, into sanctification and enlightenment, into strength, healing and health of the soul and body, into the extermination and complete destruction of my evil thoughts, thoughts and intentions, as well as impure dreams, dark and evil spirits. For to You belongs the Kingdom and power and glory and honor and worship, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 9, St.

Before the doors of your temple I stand, and after all I don't leave bad thoughts. But you, Christ God, who justified the publican and had mercy on the Canaanite woman and opened the doors of paradise to the thief, open your loving heart to me and accept me, who comes and touches you, as you accepted harlot and bleeding: for one, touching the hem of your garment, immediately received healing; the other, embracing Your pure feet, received the forgiveness of sins.

And I, unfortunate, deciding to accept Your whole Body, may I not burn; but accept me as You accepted those women, and enlighten the feelings of my soul, burning my sins, with prayers without the seed of You who gave birth and the heavenly Forces. For blessed are You forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 10, St.

I believe, Lord, and I confess that You are indeed the Christ, the Son of the Living God, Who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first. I also believe that this is Your very pure Body and this is Your very precious Blood. Therefore, I ask You: have mercy on me and forgive me my sins, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in word or deed, consciously or unconsciously; and make me worthy, without condemnation, to partake of Your most pure Mysteries in order to receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Amen.

End of prayers

It is truly worthy to glorify You as the Mother of God, always blessed and immaculate, and the Mother of our God. We magnify You as the true Mother of God, who painlessly gave birth to God the Word, worthy of greater honor than the Cherubim, and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, in prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Immediately before Communion, if possible, say the following verses to yourself:

Here I come to divine communion. Creator, do not scorch me with communion! For You are the fire that burns the unworthy. But cleanse me from all impurity.

never such kissing like Judas, but like a thief, I openly express my faith in You, saying: "Remember me, Lord, in Your Kingdom!"

And the following verses:

Human, tremble at the sight of the divine Blood! She is the fire that burns the unworthy. The body of God deifies and nourishes me: it deifies the spirit, incomprehensibly nourishes the mind.

Then troparia:

You attracted me, O Christ, with love and changed me with a holy desire for You. My sins have fallen into an immaterial fire and make me worthy to enjoy You sweetly, so that I rejoicingly glorify Your two comings.

How can I, unworthy, enter into the bright assembly of Your saints? After all, if I decide to enter the chamber with them marriage, the clothes will give me away, for they are not the same as they go to marriage, and I will be bound and driven out by the Angels. Cleanse, O Lord, the impurity of my soul and save me as a Lover of mankind.

Also a prayer:

Vladyka - Lover of mankind, Lord, Jesus Christ my God, may this Holy thing be to me not as an accusation for my unworthiness, but as a purification of soul and body and as a pledge of future life and Kingdom. But it is good for me to cling to God, to place in the Lord the hope of my salvation.

And again:

Receive me today as a participant in Your sacramental Supper, Son of God, for I never I will not betray secrets to Your enemies and I will not give You such kissing like Judas, but like a thief, I openly express my faith in You, saying: Remember me, Lord, in Your Kingdom!

Prayers after Holy Communion

Glory to Thee, God! Glory to Thee, God! Glory to Thee, God!

Prayer 1, thanksgiving

I thank You, Lord, my God, that You did not reject me, a sinner, but made me worthy to partake of Your Holy Things. I thank You that You made me worthy, unworthy, to partake of Your most pure heavenly Gifts. But, Lord-Loving Man, who died for us and rose again and bestowed on us these terrible life-giving Mysteries for the benefit and sanctification of our souls and bodies, make them also for me, for the healing of soul and body, for the reflection of every enemy, for the enlightenment of the eyes of my heart, to my world mental strength, in firm faith, in unhypocritical love, in the enlightenment of the mind, in the observance of Thy commandments, in the multiplication of Thy divine grace and in the acquisition of Thy Kingdom; so that, being kept by them in purity before You, I always remember Your mercy and live no longer for myself, but for You, our Lord and Benefactor. And thus, leaving this life in the hope of Eternal life, I will come to a place of eternal rest, where the voices of the triumphant do not stop and where the joy of those who look at the inexpressible beauty of Your face is endless. For You are the true goal of aspiration every person and the inexplicable joy of those who love You, Christ our God, and all creation sings of You forever. Amen.

Prayer 2, St.

Master, Christ God, King of the ages and Creator of all peace! I thank You for all the blessings that You have given me, and for the communion of Your most pure and life-giving Mysteries. And so I pray to You, merciful and philanthropist: keep me under Your protection, and give me with a clear conscience, until my last breath, worthy to partake of Your Holy Things for the remission of sins and eternal life. For You are the Bread of Life, the Source of sanctification, the Giver of blessings. And to You we send glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 3, St.

Lord, who voluntarily gave me Your flesh as food, You are the fire that burns the unworthy! Do not burn me, my Creator! But go into the members of my body, into all the joints, into the insides, into the heart, and the thorns of all my sins fell. Purify my soul, sanctify my thoughts, strengthen me in my activity, enlighten my feelings, saturate me all with fear of You. Always protect, protect, protect me from every deed and word harmful to the soul. Purify, wash, adorn me; strengthen, enlighten and enlighten me. Make me Your temple of the one Spirit and no longer a dwelling place of sin, so that after receiving Communion, every villain, every passion fled from me, as from Your house, as from fire. As intercessors for myself, I present to You all the saints, the chiefs of the incorporeal Forces, Your Forerunner, the wise Apostles and, above them, Your immaculate, most pure Mother. Accept their prayers, my merciful Christ, and make Thy servant a son of light. For You, the Merciful One, are the only sanctification and illumination of our souls. And to You, as befits a God and Master, we all send glory every day.

Prayer 4th

Thy Holy Body, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, may it be to me for eternal life, and Thy precious Blood for the remission of sins: and may this communion be to me in joy, health and gladness;

in your terrible and second coming, vouchsafe me a sinner, to stand in your glory, through the prayers of your Most Pure Mother and all the saints.

Prayer Five, to the Most Holy Theotokos

Most Holy Lady Theotokos, light of my darkened soul, hope, protection, refuge, consolation, my joy! I thank You that You made me worthy, unworthy, to partake of the most pure Body and the precious Blood of Your Son. Having given birth to the true Light, enlighten the spiritual eyes of my heart. Give birth to the Source of immortality, revive me, mortified by sin. Merciful God, merciful Mother, have mercy on me and give me tenderness and contrition in my heart, humility in thoughts, a return to the good thoughts of my mind, in cases of his enthusiasm. And vouchsafe me until my last breath, without being condemned, to accept the sanctuary of the most pure Mysteries for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and thanksgiving so that I may sing and glorify Thee all the days of my life, for Thou art blessed and glorified forever. Amen.

Now you release Your servant, Lord, according to Your word, in peace, for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to enlighten the Gentiles and the glory of Your people, Israel.

Then the end of thanksgiving prayers:

Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

We magnify You as the true Mother of God, who gave birth without illness to God the Word, worthy of greater honor than the Cherubim, and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.

After the Communion of the Body and Blood of the Lord, let everyone remain in purity, abstinence and laconicism, in order to worthily preserve the Christ received in himself.

The sign of the cross is the hand-drawing of the sign of the Cross by a Christian as a sign of our witness to the truth of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. A symbol of belonging to Christ.

Saint Basil the Great calls God the Light, that is, the Sun, but beginningless and eternal, in Whom there are no periodic changes in the power of sanctification, and Who sanctifies everything equally, leaving no shaded places, like the visible sun.

Before falling asleep, we think about how the day went. And everything would be fine if you just thought. But, unfortunately, often people cannot fall asleep until the morning, literally going crazy from the attacks that suit their own thoughts. Christians are practically free from many such things, and in this they are helped by the right way of life and evening prayer for the coming dream. That is why it is so important to turn to the All-Holy Trinity before going to bed. In order for sleep to pass easily, it is imperative to talk with the Creator, protecting yourself from all kinds of internal and external storms. And both material and spiritual.

Why evening prayers are needed

Every Christian is, in fact, a warrior who has risen to fight for light, love and truth in his soul, as well as for his destiny in eternal life, which will come along with the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of dead bodies.

The enemy of the human race is the devil, who, according to Sacred Tradition (the history of mankind, which is partially passed down from mouth to mouth), was immediately opposed to God creating someone else besides Angels, because these spiritual beings already possessed all the virtues and huge opportunities . And the animals were already created by the Creator who were carnal beings. The proud morning star was perplexed, why add one more flesh-bearing creature, an animal - a man?

But the Lord wanted to create such a creation that would unite all his other creations - both spiritual and material. Therefore, one more creatures appeared, angels in essence, but having their own material expression - people.

The first man, Adam, was that first fruitful angel, the crown of creation, in which God united the practically incompatible - spirit and matter, "made friends" heaven and earth. The devil was seized with jealousy and offended that God did not take into account his opinion, but at the same time realized how dear a person is to God. And he decided to take revenge. Since the Creator himself he could not do any harm, the former angel decided to strike at God's beloved creation.

According to Tradition(and part of Scripture), God visited Adam in Paradise at noon and taught him the mysteries of the universe. The first man alone, and then together with his woman Eve, quickly comprehended science. Adam penetrated the essence of many things and therefore was able to give names to animals according to God's plan for each of them. The devil realized that soon people would develop in such a way that they would become serious rivals in the arena of superiority, which existed only in the mind of a fallen and sadistic ordinary angel. Those Angels who remained with God and His truth, only rejoiced at their new brother and sister, gladly accepting new members of a huge family.

The devil decided to "seize the moment" while the fallen and crippled spirits still remain smarter and more experienced than the simple and clean people so attached to the Father that they sacredly observe the ban on eating from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Then Satan, as you know, having entered the body of the serpent, crawled up to Eve, as to a younger and inexperienced one, and, having slandered the Creator that He did not allow eating from the Tree, because he was afraid that people would become like Him, persuaded Eve to eat the fruit.

At that moment, when the youngest succumbed to deceit and distorted lies, Satan practically spiritually killed us, people: the fruit from the Tree gave such consequences that the first flesh-bearing angels were unable to live like God and lost their heavenly bliss. He also killed us physically - through sin, and death came to us, that is, the inability of the body to live forever. Therefore, we call the devil, who was once one of the most beautiful and luminous angels, whom his brothers called Lucifer - Morning Star:

  • father of all lies
  • enemy of the human race,
  • murderer,
  • a misanthrope, etc.

But the loving Heavenly Father did not allow his beloved creation to perish, which, like the Angels, was also created eternal. People continued to grow, multiply and develop, but in different conditions, going through a harsh school of life on earth, where a choice is given: we continue to live with God or without Him.

On the path of each of us, regardless of faith and way of life, stood, stand and will stand in fierce malice spiritual enemies who hate us, who will go to any lie in order to seduce us, subjugate us, distract us from the Heavenly Father. It is known that Satan "boasted" that he would subdue everyone to himself and rule over us in hell.

The Lord created hell, a specially designated place that he withdrew His active participation and grace so that those who do not want to be with Him have such an opportunity. Michael the Archangel threw the devil there, and with him those who went over to the side of the liar and the proud went there.

And now the demons want only one thing: to drag as many people as possible with them in order to mock them for all eternity and avenge that God still loves man, and even for the sake of salvation and living together with him in Heavenly Kingdom, in paradise, crucified for us, and even defeated death!

So is it really impossible for us to get rid of this spiritual abomination? Can. Jesus said, "this generation," that is, demons and demons, are driven out "by prayer and fasting." That is why everyone who has decided to resist and return to eternal life and love with God should often pay attention to their Parent - the Heavenly Father - and communicate with Him, pray. Prayer at night before going to bed will protect from demonic trials (temptations) and help in various needs.

Brief evening prayer rule

For strong protection by the holy fathers, who were able to defeat the devil and acquire the permanent presence of God in their souls, based on their experience, they compiled several rules of prayer. One of them is midnight. But for modern man living in a crazy age of speeds and loads, it is too heavy and long.

Therefore, now this midnight rule, consisting of prayers and reading the psalms of David, has remained only in monastic life, occasionally in lay life. And for the laity, it was replaced by an abbreviated rule - prayers for the coming dream. Complete ancient prayers are now read by monks or Old Believers who did not recognize innovations and indulgences.

A relatively new evening rule consists of 10 prayers, which are addressed to each hypostasis of the Trinity:

  • the first prayer is dedicated to the Father - the Creator of all living things,
  • the second - to His Son and our Savior, thanks to whom a person has the opportunity to return to his "first grace",
  • the third - to the Holy Spirit, the third hypostasis of God.

The rule also includes prayers to the Most Holy Theotokos, the Guardian Angel, and ends with the obligatory confession of sins to its Creator. The last phrase is sending your spirit to God and asking you to save and save it while the one who prayed remains in a dream.

All this rule is aimed at nightly preparation. a person to possible death - a transition to the spiritual world and waiting in an individually prepared spiritual space for the Second Coming of Jesus and the Last Judgment, which will decide the fate of a person in eternity. This is evidenced by the meek, contrite prayer of St. John of Damascus, read by an attentive prayer with special trepidation.

It begins with the words “Vladyka, Lover of mankind, will this coffin be for me?”. It sets one to renounce earthly values and encourages each person to remember their heavenly homeland, delicately reminding that life is finite and God will definitely ask a person what he decided: to return to the “first grace” and prefer life with God in paradise, or choose a sinful life, and then hell and its inhabitants will be closer to his state.

The Christian also asks in his discourse with God "hating and offending" him to forgive. God will judge a Christian not only by prayers and sincere repentance of sins, but also by whether he prayed for his enemies.

An even more abbreviated prayer rule

Unfortunately, the modern realities of life are such that for an ordinary Christian, even this shortened rule, in comparison with the Midnight Office, is beyond its power. An abbreviation officially recognized by the church does not already exist. However, some options for abbreviations and even complete replacements are posted on the network. How soulful this replacement is is an open question. But in a situation where the spiritual potential of a Christian can be expressed by the words "either this way or no way," as a huge assumption, it can fit. But on one condition - this must be the blessing of the priest.

The blessing will allow not to fall into self-activity and pride, but to act in obedience, and it is one of the virtues that are pleasing to God.

There are at least two options:

  • Seraphim's rule
  • An evening rule abridged to a few prayers.

Seraphim's rule (prayer for the coming dream short 3 strong)

it short rule who is blessed Reverend Seraphim Sarovsky to people who, not because of laziness, but due to the severity of their work, did not have the opportunity to read the full version every day.

It includes three prayers:

  • Our Father (read three times)
  • Virgin Mary, rejoice (read three times),
  • The symbol of faith ("I believe") - is read once.

Abbreviated rule of thumb

Schematically, it looks like this:

It is also worth noting that the prayers are written, albeit in Russian letters, but in the Church Slavonic language, so some words may be incomprehensible. In this case, it is necessary to turn to the interpretation of these words so that a conversation with God does not turn into a kind of spell reading. This is a godly thing. God-beloved David, great-grandfather Holy Mother of God, writes in his psalms as an instruction to believers, “sing to God, sing wisely,” that is, understand what you say, understand.

Miraculous cases with prayers at night

In order to strengthen faith and induce to a prayerful feat, we will give several examples of what happens when a person includes in his life an evening conversation with the Heavenly Father.

Getting rid of bad thoughts and images

A certain woman was often tormented by bad thoughts: they constantly climbed into her head when she was already going to bed. Her imagination painted various unpleasant pictures, indecent scenes for her. It soon grew into a big problem. Realizing that she could not cope on her own, she went to the temple for confession. The priest, after listening, said that it was the demons that forced her to watch and listen to all these things, so that she would accept them as her own and thus sin by applying her will, her choice to them. The servant of God recommended that she read prayers for the coming sleep every evening. Imperceptibly the temptations ceased, as if they had never been.

Getting rid of demonic dreams

Demons, in order to confuse and subjugate a person, often try to intimidate him. To do this, they look for weaknesses, passions or fears and begin to “inflate” them. This is what happened to one man who experienced mystical fears - he was afraid that the vivid dreams that he had almost every night were actually prophetic. The fear was kindled by the fact that some episodes from dreams really came true, and things began to happen that could well be taken as signs, indications of possible events.

All this finally drove the impressionable person into a corner. Conversations with a psychologist did not bring a lasting effect, and the man went to the temple for confession, realizing that this was the last resort. The priest blessed him to read the evening rule. The man soon noted that ambiguous dreams and events that could be mistaken for signs or signs began to recede, and he himself stopped taking much of this seriously, focusing on more important things in his life, including spiritual.

God's help to a praying widow

A certain young woman was widowed early and was left alone with a young child in her arms. Terrified, she went to one spiritual person, old man, in Holy place, ask her how to live on. He told her not to lose heart, to live on, explained that her husband was alive and well, that only the “clothing” of his soul was lost, but his personality was preserved. He ordered to treat the spouse as if he had just left “on a long business trip” and blessed him to pray every morning and evening according to the rules established by the Church, and also to take Communion every 2 weeks.

The frightened woman, who tried her best to fulfill the blessing of the priest, noted that every day she had support from above. She succeeded in absolutely all things (and there were a lot of them after the departure of her husband), the Lord arranged for her cash payments and a side job, the baby was quickly accepted into Kindergarten. As a result, every day she thanks the Lord for help, support and love, for the fact that she and her baby do not need anything, and prays for her beloved spouse, just as she did during his earthly life.

One believing woman from a nearby church invited her to go together to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. On the way, they read Orthodox morning and night prayers together, stopping for this at convenient places. In the monastery, they prayed together for the departed spouse and gave him a magpie. The next night, the widow dreamed of her beloved husband, who was standing in line for some spiritual rewards in some place, like a small temple. The dream began from the moment her husband approaches the sacred face and receives some reward from his hands.

Prayer 1, Saint Macarius the Great, to God the Father

“Eternal God and King of all created things,

who made me live to this hour!

Forgive me the sins that I have committed on this day

deed, word and thought,

and cleanse, Lord, my humble soul

from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit.

And give me, Lord, this night to spend in a peaceful dream,

so that, rising from my humble bed,

I have pleased your holy name

all the days of my life

and defeated the enemies attacking me

- carnal and incorporeal.

And deliver me, Lord, from vain thoughts,

those who defile me, and the lusts of the evil ones.

For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory,

Father and Son and Holy Spirit,

Prayer 2, Saint Antiochus, to our Lord Jesus Christ

“Almighty, Word of the Father, Jesus Christ!

Being Himself perfect, according to Your great mercy

never leave me, your servant,

but always abide in me.

Jesus, good Shepherd of your sheep,

do not betray me to the rebellion of the serpent and do not leave me to the will of Satan,

for the seed of destruction is in me.

But You, Lord God, who accepts worship from all,

Holy King Jesus Christ,

save me during sleep with unfading light,

by your Holy Spirit,

With which You have sanctified Your disciples.

Give, Lord, to me, Your unworthy servant,

Your salvation is on my bed:

enlighten my mind with the light of the understanding of thy holy gospel,

soul to the love of Thy Cross,

heart with the purity of your word,

my body - by Your suffering, alien to passion,

save my thought with your humility.

And lift me up at the proper time to glorify You.

For You are glorified with Your Father without beginning

and with the Holy Spirit forever. Amen".

Prayer 3, to the Holy Spirit

"Lord, King of Heaven, Comforter, Spirit of Truth,

have mercy and have mercy on me, your sinful servant,

and let me go unworthy,

and forgive everything in which I have sinned against You today as a man,

moreover, not only as a man, but even worse than cattle:

my voluntary sins and involuntary, known and unknown;

and those from temper and carelessness.

or saddened, or irritated by something;

or lied, or did not sleep at the time,

or a beggar came to me, and I despised him;

or saddened my brother,

or entered into a quarrel; or who condemned

or boasted, or became proud, or became angry;

or, when I stood in prayer, my mind was carried away by the seduction of this world;

or had impure thoughts;

or overeat, or drunk,

or foolishly laughed;

or thought evil,

or, seeing someone else's beauty, was wounded by it in the heart;

or obscene spoken;

or laughed at my brother's sin, while my sins are countless;

or was negligent in prayer;

or, doing something else evil, I don’t remember,

For all this and more I have done!

Have mercy on me, my Creator, Lord, Thy sad and unworthy servant,

and leave, and let go, and forgive me, as a good and philanthropist,

Yes, I will lie down in peace, sleep and rest, I, prodigal, sinful and unhappy,

and I will worship, and I will sing, and I will glorify Your honorable name,

with the Father and His Only Begotten Son,

now and ever, and forever. Amen".

Prayer 4, Saint Macarius the Great

“What will I bring to you or what will I repay you,

rich in gifts immortal King,

generous and philanthropic Lord,

because me, lazy to serve You

and did nothing good,

brought to the end of this past day,

directing my soul to conversion and salvation?

Have mercy on me, a sinner

and bereft of every good deed,

raise my fallen soul,

defiled in immeasurable sins,

and remove from me all the evil thoughts of this visible life.

and fall on me with the light of your face, when you come in glory,

and now let me sleep in a dream not in condemnation,

and without dreams and embarrassment, keep the thoughts of your servant.

And drive away all satanic deeds from me,

and enlighten the intelligent eyes of my heart,

May I not sleep the sleep of death.

And send me an angel of peace,

guardian and mentor of my soul and body,

may he deliver me from my enemies;

yes, rising from my bed,

bring you thanksgiving prayers.

O Lord, hear me, Thy sinful and poor servant, with will and conscience!

Give me, having risen from sleep, to learn your word

and through your angels drive away the despondency of demons from me!

May I bless your holy name,

and glorify, and glorify the Most Pure Theotokos Mary,

Which You gave to us, sinners, in protection,

and hear her praying for us;

for I know that She imitates Your philanthropy and does not cease to pray.

Her intercession, and the sign of the Holy Cross,

and for the sake of all your saints,

save my wretched soul, Jesus Christ our God,

for You are holy and glorified forever. Amen".

extinguish the fire of bodily excitations.

Let us live chastely in deeds and words,

so that, leading a virtuous life,

we have not lost the blessings you promised,

for you are blessed forever. Amen".

4. Lord, deliver me from all ignorance, and oblivion, and cowardice, and petrified insensitivity.

5. Lord, deliver me from every temptation.

6. Lord, enlighten my heart, darkened by an evil desire.

7. Lord, as a man I have sinned, but You, as a generous God, have mercy on me, seeing the weakness of my soul.

8. Lord, send Your grace to help me, let me glorify Your holy name.

9. Lord Jesus Christ, write me, Your servant, in the book of life and grant me a good end.

10. Lord, my God, although I have done nothing good in Your sight, but grant me, by Your grace, to make a good start.

11. Lord, sprinkle in my heart the dew of Thy grace.

12. Lord of heaven and earth, remember me, Thy sinful servant, filthy and unclean, in Thy Kingdom. Amen.

1. Lord, accept me in repentance.

2. Lord, do not leave me.

9. Lord, put in me the root of goodness - Your fear in my heart.

10. Lord, make me worthy to love You with all my soul and mind and to do Your will in everything.

11. Lord, protect me from some people, and demons, and passions, and from any other inappropriate deed.

12. Lord, I know that You do everything according to Your will - may Your will be done in me a sinner, for You are blessed forever. Amen.

Prayer 8, to our Lord Jesus Christ

"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God,

for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother

and your disembodied angels,

and also Thy Prophet and Forerunner and Baptist,

and theological Apostles,

bright and victorious martyrs,

venerable and God-bearing fathers and all saints

- Deliver me from the current demonic embarrassment.

Thus, my Lord and Creator, who does not desire the death of a sinner,

but that he should turn and be alive,

give me also an appeal, cursed and unworthy.

Take me out of the jaws of the serpent,

eager to devour me and bring me alive to hell.

Yes, my Lord, my consolation,

for the sake of me unfortunate clothed in perishable flesh,

deliver me from misery

and comfort my poor soul.

Inspire my heart to do Your commandments,

and forsake evil deeds, and receive thy blessedness.

For in You, Lord, I trust,

save me"

Prayer 9, to the Most Holy Theotokos, Peter the Studio

"To You, Most Pure Mother of God,

I, unfortunate, fall down and pray:

You know, Queen

that I constantly sin

and I anger thy Son and my God,

and, although I repent many times,

I turn out to be lying before God.

I repent, trembling,

won't the Lord strike me already,

and soon do the same again!

I pray that You, my Lady, Lady Mother of God,

knowing this, she had mercy, strengthened me and taught me to do good.

For You know, my Lady Mother of God,

that I hate my evil deeds

and with all my mind I love the law of my God;

but I don’t know, Lady Most Pure,

Why do I love what I hate, but do not do good.

Do not allow, Most Pure One, to fulfill my will, for it is evil,

but let the will of thy Son and my God be done,

save me and enlighten me

and give the grace of the Holy Spirit,

so that from now on I will stop doing bad things,

and the rest of the time you would live according to the commandments of your Son,

Who deserves all the glory, honor and power

with His Father without beginning,

and by His Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit,

now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen".

Prayer 10, to the Most Holy Theotokos

“Good King, good Mother, Most Pure and Blessed Mother of God Mary!

Pour out the mercy of your Son and our God on my suffering soul,

and with your prayers guide me to good deeds,

so that I can live the rest of my life without vice

and through You to find paradise, Virgin Mary, the only pure and blessed.

Prayer 11, to the holy guardian angel

“Angel of Christ, my holy guardian and protector of my soul and body!

Forgive me for everything that I have sinned today,

and deliver me from every deceit of the enemy coming against me,

so that I do not anger my God with any sin.

But pray for me, a sinful and unworthy slave,

to present me worthy of the goodness and mercy of the All-Holy Trinity

and Mother of my Lord Jesus Christ, and all the saints. Amen".

Kontakion to the Most Holy Theotokos

“To you, the Supreme Warlord who defends us

for deliverance from terrible troubles

We establish for You the celebration of victory thanksgiving, we, Your servants, Mother of God!

But You, as having an invincible power,

free us from all dangers,

let us call to you:

"Rejoice, Bride, who has not known marriage!

Glorious Ever-Virgin, Mother of Christ God,

bring our prayer to your Son and our God,

May He save our souls through Your prayers.

I place all my hope in You, Mother of God,

keep me under your protection.

Mother of God Virgin, do not despise me a sinner,

requiring Your help and Your intercession,

for my soul trusts in you, and have mercy on me.”

Prayer of St. Joannicius

“My hope is the Father, my refuge is the Son, my protection is the Holy Spirit: Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.”

End of prayers

“It is truly worthy to glorify You, Mother of God,

Blessed and Immaculate and Mother of our God.

You are more worthy of veneration than Cherubim

and in His glory is incomparably higher than the Seraphim,

You gave birth to the Son of God without illness,

and as the true Mother of God we magnify You.

***

“Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen"

***

"Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy"

***

“Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen".

We see that after those prayers that are final in the "Morning Prayers" section and are marked with the words "End of Prayers", in the "Prayers for the Future Sleep" section (in most prayer books), some more prayers follow that are more directly related to going to bed (The prayer of St. John of Damascus is supposed to be read, pointing to the bed, while reading the prayer "Let God rise again" are overshadowed by the sign of the cross and the bed, and the four cardinal points). One of the consequences of this is that we can adapt the general rule more flexibly to our own conditions of life, to our inner state. So, for some people (or in some circumstances of life) it turns out to be more convenient to read the first part of prayers for sleep in the coming evening, early enough - perhaps before the complete completion of all affairs - and immediately before going to bed, already near your bed, read the remaining prayers. The joint reading of prayers for a dream to come - for example, in a family - can be completed precisely on "It is worthy to eat ..." and a common blessing, and prayers, starting with the prayer of St. John of Damascus, can be read to everyone in their room, at their bed.

Prayer of Saint John of Damascus

"Lord Lover of Humanity,

will this bed be a coffin for me,

Or will you illuminate my unfortunate soul with the light of day?

Behold, the coffin is before me, behold, death awaits me.

I am afraid of Your judgment, Lord, and endless torment,

I never stop doing bad things.

You, Lord and my God, I always anger,

and Your Most Pure Mother, and all Heavenly Forces,

and the holy angel, my guardian.

I know, Lord, that I am not worthy of Your love for mankind,

but worthy of all condemnation and torment.

But, Lord, whether I want to or not, save me.

After all, if you save the righteous, there is nothing great in it,

and if you have mercy on the pure, there is nothing wonderful in that,

For they are worthy of Your mercy.

But on me, a sinner, show Your wondrous mercy,

in this show thy love for mankind,

May my malice not overcome Your inexpressible goodness and mercy,

and as You wish, do with me.

Enlighten my eyes, O Christ God,

let me not sleep the sleep of death,

Let not my enemy say, I am strong against him.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit:

Be the protector of my soul, God,

for I walk in the midst of many nets;

deliver me from them, Blessed One,

and save me like a philanthropist.

And now and now, and forever and ever. Amen:

The Most Glorious Mother of God, and the Most Holy Angel of the Saints,

let's sing without ceasing,

heart and mouth confessing Her Mother of God,

for she truly gave birth to God incarnate

and prays unceasingly for our souls.”

Prayer to the Holy Cross

"Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered,

and let those who hate him flee from before him.

As the smoke disappears, let them disappear

as wax melts in the face of fire,

so let the demons perish before those who love God,

and overshadowing themselves with the sign of the cross and joyfully saying:

Rejoice, Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord,

casting out demons by the power of Our crucified Lord Jesus Christ on You,

descended into hell and destroyed the power of the devil,

and gave us Thee, His sacred Cross,

to drive away every enemy!

O Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord,

help me with the Holy Lady, the Virgin Mary

and with all the saints forever. Amen".

Or briefly:

“Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your Honorable and Life-Giving Cross, and save me from all evil.”

Prayer

“Weaken, leave, forgive, O God, our sins,

voluntary and involuntary

done in deed and word,

in control and not in control

night and day

in mind and thought

Forgive us everything

as Good and Humane."

Prayer

“Forgive those who hate and offend us, Lord, Lover of mankind.

Do good to those who do good.

To our brothers and relatives, fulfill their petitions for what serves for salvation, and grant eternal life.

Visit the sick and grant them healing.

Guide those who are at sea. Accompany travelers.

Grant forgiveness to those who serve and pardon us of sins.

Those who instructed us, the unworthy, to pray for them, have mercy on Your great mercy.

Remember, Lord, before our departed fathers and brothers, and give them rest where the light of Your face shines.

Remember, Lord, our brothers who are in captivity, and deliver them from every misfortune.

Remember, Lord, those who make offerings and do good in Your holy Churches

and fulfill their petitions for that which is for salvation, and grant eternal life.

Remember, Lord, and us, the humble, and sinners, and unworthy servants of Yours,

and enlighten our minds with the light of your mind,

and guide us in the way of your commandments,

through the prayers of our Most Pure Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary and all your saints,

for you are blessed forever and ever. Amen".

Confession of sins everyday

“I confess to you the Lord my God and Creator,

in the Holy Trinity, the One, glorified and worshiped,

Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit,

all my sins that I have committed all the days of my life,

and at every hour, and at the present time, and in the past days and nights

deed, word, thought,

overeating, drunkenness, secret eating,

idle talk, despondency, laziness, bickering,

disobedience, slander, condemnation,

negligence, selfishness, greed,

theft, lies, criminal gain (profit),

covetousness, jealousy, envy,

anger, rancor, hatred, avarice (greed),

and all my feelings

sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch

and my other sins, both spiritual and bodily,

with which I have angered you, my God

and offended my neighbor.

Regretting them, I am guilty before You, my God

and I want to repent.

But just help me, Lord my God,

humbly with tears I beg you:

Forgive my past sins according to Your mercy, and allow me,

as a good and philanthropist, from all those sins that I listed before You.

When you go to sleep say:

“Into Your hands, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, I commit my spirit; Bless me, have mercy on me and grant me eternal life. Amen".

TRANSLATION: Into Your hands, O Lord, Jesus Christ, my God, I commend my spirit. You bless me, You have mercy on me and grant me eternal life. Amen.

Notes

1

In this prayer, we do not ask God for anything, but only praise Him. It can be said in short: Thank God. It is pronounced at the end of the case as a sign of our gratitude to God for His mercy to us.

(back)

2

It is read three times, with the sign of the cross and a bow from the waist. We read this prayer three times in honor of the three Persons of the Holy Trinity. In this prayer we call God the first Person of the Holy Trinity – God the Father; Strong - God the Son, because He is as omnipotent as God the Father, although according to humanity He suffered and died; Immortal - the Holy Spirit, because He is not only eternal Himself, like the Father and the Son, but also gives life to all creatures and immortal life to people.

(back)

3

In this prayer, we do not ask God for anything, we only glorify Him, who has appeared to people in three Persons: the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, to whom now and forever belongs the same honor of glorification.

(back)

4

This prayer is pleading. In it, we first turn to all three Persons together, and then to each Person of the Trinity separately: to God the Father, so that He cleanses our sins; to God the Son, that He may forgive our iniquities; to God the Holy Spirit to visit and heal our infirmities.

(back)

5

This is the oldest and common prayer for all Christians. We say it when we remember our sins. To the glory of the Holy Trinity, we say this prayer 3 times. 12 times we say this prayer, asking God for a blessing for every hour of the day and night. 40 times - for the sanctification of our whole life.

(back)

6

This prayer is called the Lord's, because the Lord Jesus Christ Himself gave it to His disciples when they asked Him to teach them how to pray (see Matt. 6:9-13; Luke 11:2-4). Therefore, this prayer is the most important prayer for everyone.

This evening prayer is all aimed at chastity, at the confrontation of impure lust - sensual pleasure. Modern Christians live in a world literally engulfed in prodigal madness, so even for a married layman striving to live with God, the struggle to lead a chaste life in deeds and in words is in its own way no less stressful than for a monk. . Prayer is an indispensable weapon in this struggle.

This prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos is the cry of a man who has realized how little his will for good can counteract sin. And repentance, quite sincere, and love with all thought for the law of God, and hatred for evil deeds, in themselves are not capable of saving a person from slavery to sin. It is only possible to overcome and conquer the law of sin God's help, by the power of God's grace, for which we cry out in our prayers.

The Akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos, beginning with this kontakion, was written in the 7th century in Constantinople. This is the first (and most beautiful) of the akathists, which has become a model for all subsequent ones.

In this prayer, we praise the Mother of God, as the Mother of our God, always blessed and blameless, and magnify Her, saying that She surpasses the most with Her honor (most honorable) and glory (most glorious). higher angels: Seraphim and Cherubim, that is, the Mother of God in her perfections stands above all - not only people, but also holy angels. Without illness, she miraculously gave birth to Jesus Christ from the Holy Spirit, Who, having become a man from Her, is at the same time the Son of God, descended from heaven, and therefore She is the true Mother of God.

Mark yourself with the cross and say a prayer to the Holy Cross. In this prayer, we express our faith that the sign of the cross is the strongest means of driving out demons, and we ask the Lord for spiritual help through the power of the Holy Cross. The Cross is called Life-Giving, because Jesus Christ, being crucified on the Cross, thereby delivered people from eternal death in hell and bestowed eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.

This prayer should be said just before going to bed, kissing the cross worn on the chest, and protecting yourself and the bed with the sign of the cross.

18

This prayer helps to consider daytime sins and maintains the memory of those committed earlier - all the days of life. Let us recall that sins sincerely confessed in the Sacrament of Penance are completely forgiven by the Lord, but this does not mean that we should forget about them. Sins remain in memory for humility and contrition about the deed.

Into Your hands, O Lord... I commit my spirit. These are the dying words on the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ: Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said: Father! into your hands I commit my spirit. And having said this, he gave up his spirit (Luke 23:46).

Believers also live and work in the modern accelerated rhythm of life, and sometimes it is not possible to read a full set of prayers. In this case, a short prayer rule is allowed.

It is also called the Seraphim Rule - the holy elder Seraphim of Sarov commanded every Christian to pray this way in the morning and evening.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son bow and glorify, who spoke the prophets. And deliver me, Lord, from the vain thoughts and vicious desires that defile me. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

  2. Lord, accept me in repentance. 2. Lord, do not leave me. 3. Lord, protect me from all misfortune. 4. Lord, give me a good thought. 5. Lord, give me tears, and the memory of death, and contrition of the heart about sins. 6. Lord, give me the thought to confess my sins. 7. Lord, give me humility, chastity and obedience. 8. Lord, give me patience, generosity and meekness. 9. Lord, plant in me the root of goodness - the fear of You in my heart. 10. Lord, make me worthy to love You with all my soul and mind and to do Your will in everything. 11. Lord, protect me from evil people, and demons, and passions, and from every unseemly deed. 12. Lord, You know what You are doing and what You want - may Your will be done and over me, a sinner, for You are blessed forever. Amen.

Merciful King, merciful Mother, most pure and blessed Mother of God Mary! Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered, and let all who hate Him flee from His Face. As smoke disappears, so let them disappear. As wax melts from fire, so let the demons perish at the sight of those who love God, and overshadow themselves with the sign of the cross and say with joy: “Rejoice, much-honored and life-giving Cross of the Lord, driving away demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ crucified on you, who descended into hell and who destroyed the power of the devil and gave us you, His honored Cross, to drive away every enemy. Interpretation of evening prayers

For the laity, there are a variety of evening prayers and interpretations of texts, the priest or an independent study of the topic will help to clarify the meaning of which. Beginners of the prayer path can listen to the chants of the elders of Optina Hermitage before going to bed.

Optina elders healed the suffering, served people, predicted the future and prayed for all sinners. It is useful for everyone to plunge into the life of the Optina monks in order to study their holy deeds and night vigils.

Conclusion

For true Christians, the question of whether to pray or not is not worth it. For people who only want to come to God and a righteous life, the roads to the temple are open, and no matter when a person has made this decision, it is never too late.

Having come to church, a person should grow in faith and knowledge, study Holy Bible, the works of the holy fathers, regularly attend Divine services, then prayer will become an integral part of the life of a Christian.

Since early times, Orthodox believers have gathered in the morning and evening hours to thank God and put in a word before him about the salvation of the world. By the fourth century, if not earlier, morning and evening had become obligatory hours for prayer and offering the praise of God. Although they have remained so since then, over time there have been two great changes in the form of the proposed prayer.

First, regular daily morning and evening petitions became more and more the practice of members of the clergy and religious orders, and the rest of God's people mostly participated in prayers on Sundays or church holidays. Secondly, as a result of this prayer, they began to be perceived more as words to be spoken and performed than as to be celebrated.

Evening prayer before bed

The evening rule of prayer for sleep, the coming one is chanting words of gratitude to God, and asking for protection from dubious thoughts and fears that appear in a person before going to bed.

Orthodox Christians have long been able to make sure that evening prayer brings peace to a person and the opportunity to look at the current life situation in a different way, so to speak, from the outside, and, in the end, to see ways to solve it. It is God who helps in realizing this through sacred action.

It is in the evening, when a person has finished with the day's affairs, that he can pay more attention to prayer. Sometimes people themselves do not notice how they resort to petition in order to turn to God for help:

  • in fear;
  • in confusion;
  • in grief and so on.

Some changes to the evening rule serve to help Christians of our time get involved in the action. Prayer words can be sung in a very simple form or enriched with optional chants.

If possible, the rule should include some singing, especially the gospel song, which is the culmination of morning or evening praise for the work of God in Christ. If desired, some paraphrases can be replaced by any of the biblical chants, and other songs can be added at appropriate places.

Evening the prayer rule must be in force. This applies to patients and women with small children. Prayer should not be taken as a duty, it should be voluntary. When you do, you must experience God's grace. It is better to turn to the clergyman for a blessing to read, and to discuss the main aspects of the action. The main path to the priesthood: reasoning and advice.

The nature of liturgical prayer can be enhanced in a variety of ways, including the use of certain changes in posture, the provision of a visual direction for worship, the use of a lit candle, and the appointment of different parts of the service, for example:

  • reading scriptures;
  • singing verses of psalms and hymns;
  • performance of various prayer books.

Evening praise may not only be read by you, you can also listen to someone else read it. Now there is a large selection of prayers for the coming dream. You can download them for free and listen to them anytime, anywhere. But you can also download the text of the evening rule on the Internet, it will not differ much, since at their core they are similar to each other.

It is important to make a responsible decision about using Scripture that allows you to meditate on the Word of God and about offering praise to God and praying for God's world during the day and week. In addition, today, prayers for the coming dream are presented in a large selection. The Prayer Book contains the main of the necessary appeals to God.

When and how to start praying for the coming dream

Orthodox prayers for a dream to come are used by an individual, a small group or a religious community. The first decision made must have to do with regular worship. Of course, this will largely depend on the time available. If you read a prayer every evening, then your the coming dream will be calm.

It happens that small children often have scary dreams. To avoid this, you need to use the evening sacrament. At first, the child can repeat after the parent. But it is imperative to explain the true meaning of this action. If this does not bring a positive result, then you can go to the temple and light a candle for the health of the child. In addition, mothers often read appeals to the icons of the Kazan Mother of God and Guardian Angel. It will protect your child's sleep. When reading an appeal to God, try not to shorten it, especially in the morning and evening. If for some serious reason you do not have the opportunity to read the petition in full, then let it be a short, but, most importantly, daily action.

What prayers to read or listen to

The prayer book offers a ready-made set of prayers for any requirement. However, they may differ depending on Old Testament and the New Testament. If you find it difficult to choose a text, then you need to contact the priest. The priest will help you with the choice and bless you for reading.

Attention to the place is important for those who pray with someone, and for those who pray on their own. The place should be quiet and calm, without extraneous noise. Light a candle, this will help you tune in to prayer. It is very important that nothing distracts you. You can also download the text of the prayer and play it before bed.

The question of singing, silence, choice of text must be decided in advance. This will be a guarantee for auspicious prayer. Holy Scripture says that prayer is the duty of everyone Orthodox person before God. However, this should not be taken as coercion. Every self-respecting Christian should always pray: when he is awake, getting ready for bed, starting a new business. In addition, you need to teach this to your child.

Praying in the evening, look back, admit your mistakes and ask for forgiveness for all sorts of sins and wrong deeds. God will surely listen and guide you on the right path. Only in God's powers free us from fear and give us hope for well-being. In the evening petition, you turn not only to God, but also to your Guardian Angel. And you will definitely be heard. The angel will protect your dreams. Do not forget to thank him for the past day.

Before you start reading the evening prayer, talk to God in ordinary language. Thank him for everything in your life and turn to him for help. If you are worried about what you have done or have bad thoughts, tell God about it before you fall asleep, and you will notice how much better and easier you feel.
